A dramatic cellphone video recorded by bystanders shows a California father and several Good Samaritans drag a carjacker from a family's SUV carrying three children and tackle him.

According to a press release form the Stockton Police Department, at around 5pm on Sunday, officers were called to the 7900 block of North El Dorado Street for a report of an attempted carjacking.

Responding officers arrived to find a group of people holding down the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Elijah Cervantes, and took him into custody.

Lower all surrounding sound and crank up the volume and hear Cervantes cry like a Day One Prison Bitch:

Newsweek: Scorpion on United Airlines Plane Stings Passenger Before Getting Caught by Flight Crew.

A passenger on board a domestic United Airlines flight was stung several times by a scorpion, and had to be treated by medical staff upon landing.

An image of the scorpion on board Thursday's flight from San Francisco to Atlanta was first published by TMZ, which reported how the unnamed female passenger started feeling a stinging sensation on her leg.

When she went to the bathroom, it got worse and she saw the creature fall from her pant leg after she was stung several times, according to USA Today.

The creature ran along the floor and caught by cabin crew, TMZ reported.

The airline would not say how the scorpion got on board or whether there would be an investigation into the incident.

USA Today noted that this was at least the third time this year that a scorpion has made its way onto a flight.

Pyramid-shaped asteroid VH5 2019 will not hit us tomorrow, says NASA.

A 427-foot pyramid-shaped asteroid is due to fly by Earth on Sunday, scientists say.

According to  the Centre for Near-Earth Object Studies at Nasa’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the object, called VH5 2019, will harmlessly fly past around 4.27 million miles from our planet at a speed of 6.1 miles per second.

At 187ft by 426.5ft, the asteroid is “pyramid-shaped" and almost as large as the Great Pyramid of Giza.

The asteroid is one of five due to fly past Earth over the weekend, all at safe distances. (Asteroids are assholes, aren't they? - DD)

It comes after a gigantic 2,000 asteroid flew past Earth last month.

On Sunday morning, December 7, 1941, the American Army and Navy base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii was attacked by the Imperial Japanese Navy. The attack came as a surprise to the American Army and Navy and lead to great losses of life and equipment. More than 2000 American citizens were killed and more than 1000 were injured. The Americans also lost a large proportion of their battle ships and nearly 200 aircraft that were stationed in the Pacific region.

Man mistakes feral coyote for dog.

The Independent (via Yahoo): Man crashes car into dog, drives it to safety then discovers it is a coyote.

A man who bundled a canine into the back seat of his car after striking the animal on his commute has said he was surprised to discover it was not a tame dog – but a wild coyote.

Eli Boroditsky had been driving to his night shift at a cheese factory in Manitoba, Canada, when what appeared to be a dog sprinted across the road and into his car.

The animal landed in a ditch after the collision, prompting Mr Boroditsky to get out and look for it with a small torch.

“It is amazing how docile it was,” Mr Boroditsky said of the semi-conscious canine. “I was petting it.”

Fearing for the creature’s safety if it had been left in the open overnight he decided to leave the animal in his car.

However, on arriving to work he was duly informed the animal he had saved was no dog at all – but a feral coyote.

Speaking to Canadian broadcaster CBC, he added: “I thought it was a German shepherd or a husky… I didn’t think it was a wild animal.

“I was hesitant to leave it lying there because — thinking that it was a dog and there might be wild animals around — it might get hurt.”

After calling animal welfare groups throughout the night he finished his shift to find the animal had moved to the front seat of his car.

A Manitoba Wildlife conservation officer arrived shortly after 9am to take the young female coyote to the nearby Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre.

It had suffered a traumatic blow to the head and cuts to its legs and face.

The animal is due for release after a week or two of care.

A centre spokesperson wrote on Instagram: “The coyote seems in relatively good condition but is still under observations for the time being[.]"

“I’m a little angry, I have to say, that we started with one of the most diverse fields in our history, giving people pride,” Sen. Cory Booker (N.J.), who is among the nonwhite presidential candidates who have yet to qualify for this month’s debate, told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes on Tuesday night. “And it’s a damn shame now that the only African American woman in this race, who has been speaking to issues that need to be brought up, is now no longer in it.”

For many critics, the question was how this historically diverse class of candidates has faded to white — at least on the national debate stage — before February’s Iowa caucuses. Her insightful -- and witty -- reflections explored a wide range of legal and policy topics and brought the Convention to a close on an inspiring note. Professor Karlan's address includes a number of concrete suggestions for how lawyers, law students and other concerned citizens can get involved in promoting and practicing progressive legal and policy values. "The Jerry Nadler Show", which proved a disaster due to the incompetence of its lead actor, Jerry Nadler, returns after being retooled. The program went on hiatus and was temporarily replaced with, "The Adam Schiff Show" which, in its pilot episode, drew a somewhat sizeable audience. Its viewership quickly dropped after its premeire.

Billed now as, "The New Jerry Nadler Show", Nadler returns playing himself, a partisan liberal suffering from a mild decline in mental stability. "There will be plenty of action, thrills and surprises. We're even looking at spin-offs," said one of the show's producers.

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler had a blunt message as he privately addressed Democrats the day before his panel assumes a starring role in the impeachment inquiry.

“I’m not going to take any shit,” Nadler said in a closed-door prep session Tuesday morning — a rare cuss word from the lawyerly Manhattan Democrat that prompted some lawmakers to sit up in their chairs, according to multiple people in the room.

Nadler’s warning shot referred to likely GOP antics to try to undermine the first impeachment hearing in the Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. But it wasn’t lost on Democrats that Nadler’s message could also apply to those in his own party who have closely scrutinized his role in the House's impeachment probe

While President Donald Trump may be under investigation, Nadler will be on the hot seat.

The veteran lawmaker has at times struggled to balance the competing interests and expectations of his caucus and leadership on an impeachment push that once sharply divided the party. Those internal tensions have largely faded, with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her caucus unified around evidence that Trump abused his office by pressuring Ukrainian leaders for his own political gain.

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. (FOX 9) - It’s not rare to see coyotes around Twin Cities metro neighborhoods, but a recent attack in a suburban area is raising concerns about how bold these urban coyotes are getting.

An Inver Grove Heights family says their dog “Mr. Moose” came out to a backyard as he does every morning to go the bathroom when he was attacked at the edge of the woods by coyotes.

Mr. Moose is a beloved member of the Frankot family and lately, he’s needed a little extra attention because of the attack.

“We’re still doing the antibiotic for infection and we’re still doing pain medication and we’re still cleaning ears for infection,” said Vanessa Frankot Miller.

The 12-year-old Labrador is being nursed back to health after his owners say he was attacked by more than one coyote over a week ago when they let him outside in the morning.

“I opened the door and he comes out of the woods and he was all ripped up and bleeding and said, [sic] ‘Come on, Moose. Come on, Moose.’” Frankot Miller added.

The attack nearly cost the dog his life.

“The vet did say these coyotes knew what they were doing,” Frankot Miller said. “They were out there to kill. They did the jugular, the hips and the stomach. They knew what they were doing.”

The family has seen coyotes in the back of their Inver Grove Heights home before. They live in the suburbs with a wooded backyard, but they never thought a dog the size of Moose would be their prey.

There's a remedy for the problem of urban coyotes.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) on Tuesday ended her bid for the White House amid dropping poll numbers and reports of turmoil in her campaign, Politico reports.

The news outlet said Harris will momentarily announce her departure from the crowded Democrat presidential primary.

OAKLAND — They mysteriously appeared about a year ago — dozens of logs the length of cars, plopped in front of industrial businesses in a two-block stretch along West Oakland’s Poplar Street, between West Grand Avenue and 18th Street.

If the purpose behind the logs was to drive away the homeless who parked their RVs and other vehicles there, the strategy worked for the most part.

City officials say the logs have prevented crews from cleaning up the two blocks, yet they’ve done little to get them removed:

Councilmember Lynette Gibson McElhaney said she reached out to local business owners to find out who put the logs there, but no one would tell.

The city’s Public Works Department considers the logs an “intentional obstruction of the public right of way,” which is illegal, spokesman Sean Maher said. But Public Works has not reached out to the local business owners who may be responsible.

East Bay Community Law Center attorney Osha Neumann, who represents and advocates for homeless people, wonders if the city would treat RV dwellers with the same indifference as it does the logs.

“There are all kinds of rules and city ordinances about illegal dumping, but I guess it’s OK to dump and obstruct if you’re doing it to obstruct homeless people from being there,” Neumann said.

The number of people living in cars, vans and RVs in Oakland has grown dramatically, from 618 in 2017 to 1,430 in 2019, according to the city’s biennial homeless count. Many have flocked to industrial areas like Poplar after being pushed out of other parts of the city.

McElhaney said the lack of complaints about the logs has made them a low priority for her office.

Most of the logs — they appear to be from oak trees — had their branches trimmed, and some have been tagged with graffiti. At about 2 feet in diameter and 8-10 feet long, they’re big enough to require a forklift or bulldozer to move.

Sestak, who mounted unsuccessful bids for US Senate in 2010 and 2016, entered an already-crowded Democratic primary field in June hoping to leverage his career in the US Navy into a successful campaign, but did not qualify for any of the major Democratic presidential debates.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's promise to boost federal funding for social programs should not be considered "free stuff," because they are in fact "public goods," the New York Democrat said in a Monday tweet.

Ocasio-Cortez, who earlier in the day led a Green New Deal town hall about public housing in the Bronx, said she's tired of being accused of essentially bribing voters with financial handouts.

"Public education, libraries, & infrastructure policies (which we‘ve had before in America and elsewhere in the world!) are not 'free stuff,'" she tweeted.

"They are PUBLIC GOODS. And they are worth investing in, protecting, & advancing for all society and future generations. Sincerely, NY-14."

Ocasio-Cortez, who has endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., in the 2020 race, also said she never wants to hear the term "free stuff" uttered ever again in a political context.

Maybe we have something here. Peaceful, protesting crowds showing up at any Cortez event drowning out whatever she's saying by shouting, "FREE STUFF". I like the idea because FREE SPEECH is a PUBIC GOOD.

SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (WKRC) - A Georgia woman was arrested after police said she shot at a drive-thru window in Shelbyville, Kentucky, in October.

Police were called to the KFC on Oct. 28 after 33-year-old Jonelle Dare reportedly shot at the window. Several employees and customers were inside at the time. Witnesses say it was because she didn't receive a fork and napkin with her order.

An arrest warrant and extradition request were issued for Dare. She was arrested Tuesday and police found a gun matching the description of the one used at the KFC.

It's plastic. It should be banned.

Details on how she obtained the gun are...pending/soon-to-be-released/may never be reported.

US Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar is a foreign agent on a Qatari payroll, a Florida court heard in a sworn testimony, according to Monday's report by the English edition of Al Arabiya.

The news agency says it got hold of an October 23 deposition by Alan Bender, a Kuwait-born businessman from Canada, testifying in a case against Qatari emir's brother, and verified it with the attorney for the plaintiffs.

According to Bender, he met with three top Qatari officials, including Emir for Security Affairs' secretary, and was told that Omar is "the crown jewel" among US politicians recruited by Qatar.

The three allegedly claimed that Ilhan owed her current position to the Qatari money bankrolling her campaign.

In his testimony, Al Arabiya reports, the businessman said that Omar made use of her position within the US House of Representatives to recruit other politicians.

She also supposedly shared sensitive information to Qatar, which relayed it to Iran.

No doubt the pious DEMS in the House of Reps, who, clutching at their pearls,  have repeatedly told us how concerned they are over our threatened democracy from foreign influences, will immediately begin an investigation into Omar. Right?

News Nation: Asteroid 2019 VF1 To Come Dangerously Close To Earth On Monday, May Hit Us.

An enormous asteroid (space rock) identified as 2019 VF1 is all set to come dangerously close to Earth on November 25 at around 9.40 AM (IST). (That's right about now. - DD). The space rock measures up to 492 feet in diameter and is officially designated as a "near-Earth object". If hits the Earth [sic], asteroid 2019 VF1 can cause a significant amount of damage and mass extinction.

Asteroid 2019 VF1, which was first discovered this year, will be traveling towards Earth at a staggering 38,498mph i.e. about 63 times faster than the top speed of a Boeing 747 jet. Fortunately, this gigantic space rock will pass Earth with a very wide berth. It is expected that the asteroid will no closer than 3,172,582 miles (5,105,776km). It is the distance about 13 times farther from Earth than the Moon.

Or, maybe we have to wait seven years. RT: Gigantic, 500ft asteroid to fly past Earth on Monday & come BACK in 7 years.

NASA has officially registered it as a “near-Earth object” bound to make a “close approach” to our planet. But not too close, the space agency reassured. The asteroid is set to swoosh by at a distance that is around 13 times farther from Earth than the Moon.

It will return and come close to Earth again on November 2026.

What if NASA hadn't officially registered the asteroid. Would it matter? "Swoosh by". That's one of those highfalutin NASA terms.

VF1 hits today or, maybe, in 2026. "Close but not too close." Precision and timing isn't everything.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been released from a Baltimore hospital where she had been treated for a possible infection.

The 86-year-old Ginsburg has returned to her home in Washington, D.C., and is “doing well,” court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg said Sunday.

Ginsburg spent two nights at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She was taken there Friday after experiencing chills and fever.

The court says she received intravenous antibiotics and fluids and that her symptoms abated. (Embalming does have that effect. 😃 - DD)

Her latest hospital stay began Friday, after the justices met in private to discuss pending cases.

She was initially evaluated at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington before being transferred to Johns Hopkins for further evaluation and treatment of any possible infection.

Ginsburg has been on the court since 1993, appointed by President Bill Clinton. Only Justice Clarence Thomas has served longer among the current members of the court.

I wonder if Ruthie is on the Medicare-For-All plan? Must be some damn fine medical coverage she has.

In a statement, the court’s public information office said Ginsburg was admitted Friday night to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She was initially evaluated at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington before being transferred to Johns Hopkins for further evaluation and treatment of any possible infection.

With intravenous antibiotics and fluids, her symptoms abated and [sic] she expected to be released from the hospital as early as Sunday morning, the statement said.
