The Gun Feed: Bear-Spraying Robber Says “Happy Holidays” Before Jewelry Store Owner Shoots Her.

GARDENDALE, AL – A jewelry store owner in Gardendale, Ala. (roughly 10 miles from Birmingham) shot a robber on Dec. 6, stopping the robbery attempt in its tracks.

In an interview with AL.com , store owner Jeff Dennis said that the robber – one Heather Denise Wright, 32 – blocked the door of Jeff Dennis Jewelers after she entered the store, alerting him to an incipient robbery and prompting him to draw his concealed pistol.

After blocking the door, Wright said, “Happy Holidays! I don’t want to hurt y’all, but I am,” and started hosing the inside of the store down with bear spray.

Owner Jeff Dennis feared for his safety and that of his employees. Once she started using the spray, he fired and struck Wright in the shoulder, causing her to drop her purse and scream for him to stop and flee the scene.

Dennis hit the store alarm, alerting authorities, and closed the store.

Wright was found later that day, after which she was arrested and taken into custody as well as to University of Alabama Hospital. Dennis said he found additional weapons in her purse, which was left at the scene.

The victim investigated the sounds originating from the garage and discovered a masked suspect. The home intruder bolted after being spotted while the victim grabbed a broom and chased the suspect to a van in a nearby parking lot.

When the thief reached the vehicle, which turned out to be stolen, he raised a firearm and cautioned the victim to retreat.

SPD said the victim turned away from the suspect and later heard a gun discharge as the suspect’s vehicle sped away.

Soon after, officers received a radio broadcast that a man had arrived at First Hill Hospital with a gunshot wound to his head.

“Officers went to the hospital, found the injured man was wearing the same clothing as the suspect in the earlier burglary. Police believe the suspect accidentally fired his handgun while climbing into his van, striking himself in the head,” SPD said in the Blotter. “Officers also learned the suspect’s van was reported stolen and had been used in another crime outside of Seattle. Additionally, the suspect is also a convicted felon, unable to legally possess firearms.”

The unnamed suspect is still being treated for the gunshot wound. He faces a number of charges, which include burglary, felony harassment, possession of a stolen vehicle and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Once he is medically cleared the suspect is expected to be booked at the King County Jail.

SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (WKRC) - A Georgia woman was arrested after police said she shot at a drive-thru window in Shelbyville, Kentucky, in October.

Police were called to the KFC on Oct. 28 after 33-year-old Jonelle Dare reportedly shot at the window. Several employees and customers were inside at the time. Witnesses say it was because she didn't receive a fork and napkin with her order.

An arrest warrant and extradition request were issued for Dare. She was arrested Tuesday and police found a gun matching the description of the one used at the KFC.

It's plastic. It should be banned.

A New York City man accused of plotting a terrorist attack on Times Square spent months trying to stockpile guns and grenades, heaped praise on the Islamic State group and Osama bin Laden, and feared being known as the "Looney Tunes Terrorist" if his glasses fell off and he couldn't shoot straight, federal prosecutors said today.

Ashiqul Alam was arrested yesterday after arranging through an undercover agent to buy a pair of semiautomatic pistols with obliterated serial numbers, prosecutors said. Police Commissioner James O'Neill said that development was "a clear indicator of (Alam's) intent to move his plot forward."

Despite the grave allegations, the 22-year-old Alam is charged only with offences [sic] related to the gun transaction. He did not enter a plea at an arraignment yesterday and was ordered jailed without bail. Prosecutors argued he was a flight risk and a danger to the community.

Court documents describe months of plotting for an attack Alam told an undercover agent would make them "legends."

Alam spoke of plotting to kill civilians and law enforcement officers in Times Square and targeting a senior government official in Washington, according to the documents.

Richard Remme, of Fort Dodge, told police he was playing with his dog, Balew, on the couch and tossed the dog off his lap. He says when the pit bull-Labrador mix bounded back up, he must have disabled the safety on the gun in his belly band and stepped on the trigger.

The gun fired, striking one of Remme's legs.

Heh..."must have disabled..."  Gee, ya think?

Way to go Richard. Hey, next time you play toss the dog with a gun nearby, down a few shots of Bacardi 151 and smoke some meth. Heck, toss a few Tide pods in your mouth.
