Biden to release 1 million barrels of oil per day from strategic reserve.

Washington Times: Biden to release 1M barrels of oil per day from strategic oil reserve.

President Biden will release a record 1 million barrels of oil per day from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in a bid to contain soaring energy prices that are rapidly becoming a political headache for Democrats ahead of November’s midterm elections.

“This action will increase our immediate supply and meet our immediate energy needs and address our lack of supply as a result of [Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s actions,” a senior administration official told reporters.

The official called the scale of the release “unprecedented,” noting that the U.S. has never released more than 1 million barrels per day. The release will continue every day for six months, accounting for a total of 180 million barrels of oil.
[.]
It’s unclear if releasing 1 million barrels a day will make a major dent in rising oil prices. The U.S. consumes about 20 million barrels of oil a day, so the amount released by Mr. Biden will account for roughly 5% of the oil consumed per day.
[.]
So far, tapping the reserve has done little to bring down prices at the pump, which have spiked since the U.S. and its allies placed limits on Russian energy exports as punishment for Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
[.]
Mr. Biden also blamed Mr. Putin, while acknowledging earlier this month his executive order banning Russian energy imports will bring more pain at the pump for Americans.

When you have no ideas.

Poll reflects more Americans worried about energy costs and availability. SHOCKING!

The Hill (via Yahoo): More Americans worried about energy costs, availability.

More Americans are concerned about the availability and affordability of energy now than they have been in a decade, according to a new survey from Gallup.

The poll found that 47 percent of Americans had a great deal of concern over the cost and availability of energy. Meanwhile, 30 percent said they worry a fair amount, 17 percent said only a little and 5 percent said not at all.

One year ago, 37 percent of people had a great deal of concern about energy. That figure has more than doubled since 2020, when 22 percent of Americans had a great deal of concern about the issue, Gallup reported.

Similar levels of concern over energy have not been seen since 2012, when 48 percent said they worried about energy costs a great deal, according to the survey giant.

Gallup's poll also found more people found the energy situation in the U.S. to be very serious.

Specifically, 44 percent of U.S. adults said the situation was "very serious." Another 46 percent called it "fairly serious" and 10 percent said it was "not at all serious." Last year, 32 percent of respondents described the situation as very serious.

Four killed after car crashes into homeless encampment in Salem, Oregon.

The Guardian: Four killed after car crashes into homeless encampment in Salem, Oregon.

A driver crashed a car into a homeless encampment in Salem, Oregon, early on Sunday morning, killing four people and injuring three including the driver, authorities said.

Police arrested Enrique Rodriguez Jr, 24, on Sunday evening. He was charged with four counts of first-degree manslaughter, second- and third-degree assault and six counts of reckless endangerment.

In a statement, authorities said Salem police believe “alcohol may have been a contributing factor”. It was not immediately clear if Rodriguez had an attorney.

Mike Wade came to the camp after hearing a close friend had died. He helped others in the camp salvage their belongings and prayed for the victims.

“It gets me weaker every day hearing about us die one by one,” Wade said. “My friends are dead and I don’t know what to say.”

This story is sad. The circumstances avoidable. But...Liberals...

Eliot Cutler, former Carter Admin OMB official facing child pornography charges.

Eliot Cutler. Obviously on a very important phone call.

NY Post: Former Maine gubernatorial candidate busted with kiddie porn.

A lawyer who ran for governor of Maine twice was arrested on child pornography charges Friday.

Eliot Cutler, 75, faces four counts of possession of sexually explicit material of a minor under 12 after investigators found 10 files of children being exploited on his computer, according to The Portland Press Herald.

Culter [sic] may face additional charges as cops continued to look through terabytes of data on devices seized from two of the former Independent candidate’s homes, the article said.

Officials arrested Cutler at his farm in Brooklin even as the probe continued, prosecutors said. He was being held on $50,000 bail.

Given the incredibly high bail of $50,000 cash, set on a Friday night after banks are closed no less, it is unclear whether the bail will be posted,” Cutler’s attorney Walt McKee told the newspaper.

Cutler, a former member of President Jimmy Carter’s administration, ran for governor in 2010 and 2014 after working as a Washington DC attorney.

He resigned from his post as president of the board of the Lerner Foundation, which encourages rural students to go to college, on Wednesday, following a raid on one of his homes.

Gee, that's too bad. The alleged pedo might have to spend the weekend in jail rather than, "one of his homes."

Aspirin linked to lower risk for death in patients hospitalized with COVID-19 says study from George Washington University.

From UPI

Something as simple as aspirin may help lower the risk of death in hospital patients who are fighting a tough case of COVID-19, a new study found.

George Washington University researchers analyzed data on more than 112,000 patients hospitalized with moderate COVID-19 at 64 health systems in the United States from Jan. 1, 2020, through Sept. 10, 2021.

Compared to patients who weren't given aspirin, those who received aspirin within the first day of hospitalization had a 1.6% lower risk of death, and also had a lower risk of blood clots.

[.]

"This is our third study and the culmination of 15 months of work looking at aspirin use in hospitalized COVID-19 patients," said lead researcher Dr. Jonathan Chow, an associate professor at the university's School of Medicine.

"We continue to find that aspirin use is associated with improved outcomes and lower rates of death in hospitalized patients," Chow said in a university news release. "What's more, it's low-cost and readily available, which is important in parts of the world where more expensive therapeutics might not be as accessible."

Reports "say" coroner drove wooden stake through Madeleine Albright's heart just to make sure she doesn't come back to life.

To the many people who kept me on their Blogroll or Favorite Sites list for the time I wasn't publishing, THANK YOU.

I truly appreciate the many writers listed on my Blog Roll who kept this Blog on their Roll or Favorite Sites over the almost past two years. It means a lot. I would drop in and visit you, I just didn't drop any comments.

I'd lost all interest in regular updates ending in May of 2020 and kind of guessed Big Whining Liberal Social Media would be gutting sites that didn't stick with the usual LibTardia Narrative. Plus, I really hate the "new and improved" Blogger Dashboard. Ugh, what a jumbled POS it is. The former "Legacy" dashboard was so simple, so easy, so nice. It's a shame Bloooooooger no longer allows the choice to switch back to the "Legacy" mode. Oh well...

Phil, damnit, 😀 I'm glad you have a new home, Bustednuckles, but please stop changing your URL. It's hard enough trying to figure out how to publish a post with the new dashboard, let alone update new URLS. ARRRGGGHHH !

If you're on my Blog Roll and have changed your URL or have moved, drop a comment and one of these days I'll get around to updating it.

I won't be updating daily like I did before. It's going to be hit or miss, mostly miss because there's other things I'd rather be doing.

Big Shout Out to 90MFT (Mike), Dave (The Right Way), Irish, Jess, Zack, Odysseus, Bunkerville, IMAO & others (sorry, I didn't have time to look at everyone) for keeping me on their Blog Roll or Fave List. It means a lot!

ONE QUESTION: How, on the Blog Roll to the right, what do I need to do to show ALL blogs and sites rather than just those that are "recently updated"? Is there a "10 only" maximum now? That's the maximum number I see in the Dashboard. Thanks!
