Andrea Scheele, executive director of the Public Safety Civil Service Commission, concluded it was neither practical nor advisable for Seattle to use a new police recruitment test that has a higher rate of candidates who pass than the current test. The conclusion is likely to frustrate mayor’s office staff and council members who see the city’s current test as an obstacle to bringing in new recruits.

The test, according to the mayor and crew is, "an obstacle." The mayor's staff and council want the passing test score lowered from 90% to 70% ! 🤣  Yeah, lower the standards because, "Muh ocbastacle!"

Nicholas John Roske is the armed, zip-tie carrying suspect who is accused of threatening to kill U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Roske’s name was released via an unsealed arrest affidavit. Online records say Nicholas Roske, 26, is from Simi Valley, California.

A man armed with a handgun, knife, and pepper spray was arrested early Wednesday morning near the Maryland home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, law-enforcement authorities said.

The man told police he was there to kill Kavanaugh, who lives in Chevy Chase, a suburb just outside of Washington, D.C. according to authorities.

The man, who is not from Maryland, arrived near Kavanaugh’s home in a taxi. Authorities said he was stopped by police near the residence, but not at it.

The Supreme Court in a statement said: “At approximately 1:50 a.m. today, a man was arrested near Justice Kavanaugh’s residence. The man was armed and made threats against Justice Kavanaugh.”

“He was transported to Montgomery County Police 2nd District,” according to the Supreme Court.”

Seattle burglary suspect unintentionally shoots self in head while fleeing crime scene.

SEATTLE – A residential burglary suspect in North Seattle was hospitalized and later arrested after negligently shooting himself in the head as he tried to flee the scene of a crime, authorities said.

Police received a call from a Seattle homeowner who heard noises coming from his garage early Wednesday morning, according to the Seattle Police Department Blotter.

The victim investigated the sounds originating from the garage and discovered a masked suspect. The home intruder bolted after being spotted while the victim grabbed a broom and chased the suspect to a van in a nearby parking lot.

When the thief reached the vehicle, which turned out to be stolen, he raised a firearm and cautioned the victim to retreat.

SPD said the victim turned away from the suspect and later heard a gun discharge as the suspect’s vehicle sped away.

Soon after, officers received a radio broadcast that a man had arrived at First Hill Hospital with a gunshot wound to his head.

“Officers went to the hospital, found the injured man was wearing the same clothing as the suspect in the earlier burglary. Police believe the suspect accidentally fired his handgun while climbing into his van, striking himself in the head,” SPD said in the Blotter. “Officers also learned the suspect’s van was reported stolen and had been used in another crime outside of Seattle. Additionally, the suspect is also a convicted felon, unable to legally possess firearms.”

The unnamed suspect is still being treated for the gunshot wound. He faces a number of charges, which include burglary, felony harassment, possession of a stolen vehicle and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Once he is medically cleared the suspect is expected to be booked at the King County Jail.

Vaxxed Carnival Cruise overwhelmed with Covid!

Washington Examiner: Cruise ship overwhelmed after more than a hundred test positive for COVID-19.

Over 100 people who were on a Carnival cruise ship have tested positive for COVID-19, overwhelming the ship, which docked Tuesday in Seattle.

Passengers infected with the coronavirus have spread out, going to hotels in the Seattle area to wait out the virus and quarantine, according to a report.

"As soon as I got diagnosed with COVID, I did not feel safe," one passenger said.

"They didn't have enough staff to handle the emergency that was happening, period," the passenger continued. "They were overwhelmed, and they didn't have a backup course in how to handle about 200 people affected with COVID. We all suffered."

Another passenger echoed the sentiment that the crew was not ready for the surge in cases.

"I think that they were unprepared. I think they were understaffed. I think that they were overwhelmed," according to the passenger. "I don't think they had clear guidance as to how to handle this."

During the experience, passengers said they waited hours for food, could not get properly isolated, and that it has hard to reach medical staff. 

Carnival's policy requires proof of "vax" and a negative test prior to embarking.
