Medical examiner concludes George Floyd didn't die of asphyxia.
Washington Examiner: Medical examiner concludes George Floyd didn't die of asphyxia.
In the charges brought against former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin on Friday, a new finding shows the county medical examiner concluded the death of George Floyd was not a result of asphyxia or strangulation.
[.]
The full report by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office is pending but so far has found "no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation."
Floyd's underlying health conditions included coronary artery disease and hypertensive heart disease. The report says the underlying health conditions, combined with Chauvin's restraint and any possible intoxicants in Floyd's system, likely contributed to his death.
[.]
Floyd's detainment revolved around an account of forgery when a local business owner thought he had handed him a counterfeit bill to pay for his purchase.

Woke state flag needed; adopt full time DST? Only if it keeps MN legislators from inflicting real harm.
Minneapolis Red Star: Minnesota Legislature opens 2020 election year session.
confiscation laws are also being pushed by the anti-2A crowd, who always seems to be a very liberal group comprised of those soft on crime and favoring endless unsuccessful rehabilitation programs.
Given the amount of daylight both states receive, it makes sense why Arizona and Hawaii don't observe DST. But Minnesota?
And the MN flag? It's offensive and "too jumbled". Its design, a madhouse! Of course this idea is from DEMS. How could it not be?
MSN: Does MN need a new flag? It’s too jumbled, some lawmakers say — and not so woke.

On Tuesday, the first day of the 2020 Minnesota legislative session in St. Paul, a proposal that could lead to a new state flag was among those that Democrats brought forward.Need a woke state flag? Gotta have a task force!
No, they clarify, it’s not their Number 1 priority. (Maybe, but the DEMS will spend a lot of time puffing their chests out on this. DD)
“But you always get some things that aren’t anyone’s top priority, but that you can agree on,” said state Rep. Peter Fischer, DFL-Minneapolis, the lead sponsor of a bill that would create a task force to look at redesigning the flag.

New, disposable vaping bars not covered by flavor bans.
I heard this vaping device referred to as a "bar" - as in candy bar...or ice cream bar, because of its short, flattish, stick-like appearance.
From "The Legal Circumvention Department" files:
Market Watch: Young people have moved on to a new kind of vape not covered by the flavor ban: disposables.
Well, you HAVE TO BE a certain age to LEGALLY purchase tobacco and all its related products. How are those under-age obtaining these products? THAT is such a mystery. It must be like all the criminals who pass background checks on the guns they legally purchase. Because, there's no other way to obtain anything other than legally, is there?

Market Watch: Young people have moved on to a new kind of vape not covered by the flavor ban: disposables.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. government on Thursday began enforcing restrictions on flavored electronic cigarettes aimed at curbing underage vaping. But some teenagers may be one step ahead of the rules.A "buzzy product." I can't stop laughing at that.
Parents, researchers and students warn that some young people have already moved on to a newer kind of vape that isn’t covered by the flavor ban.
These disposable e-cigarettes are sold under brands like Puff Bar, Stig and Fogg in flavors such as pink lemonade, blueberry ice and tropical mango.
Critics of the FDA policy fear teens will simply switch to the cheaper disposables, which are widely available at convenience stores and gas stations.
“They are very accessible and seem to be the new buzzy product,” said Dr. Karen Wilson, a tobacco researcher and pediatrician at Mount Sinai’s medical school in New York.
The FDA confirmed that the flavor restriction won’t apply to “self-contained, disposable products,” but only to rechargeable ones that use pods or cartridges prefilled with a nicotine solution.

Barack Obama ignores Trans Women. Will there be a Social Media reaction of outrage and backlash?
The world would be a better place if more women were in charge, former President Barack Obama says. Speaking at an event on Monday, Obama also said that many of the world's problems stem from "old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way."I haven't checked Social Media. Is Obama's Twitter account being bombarded with allegations of his Transphobia? Have the protests in the streets near his home begun? Why did he exclude the Trans Community? He must be phobic. Why...now with all that money, he might be a Closet Republican!
Obama made the remarks at a private event in Singapore, where several thousand people gathered to hear the former president discuss leadership and his life in the Oval Office. Ticket prices ranged from around $255 to $955 for the event, which was organized by Australian business events company The Growth Faculty.
The former president said that if women were put in charge of every country for the next two years, the result would be gains "on just about everything," according to Singapore's Today.
"There would be less war, kids would be better taken care of and there would be a general improvement in living standards and outcomes," Obama said.
The Singapore event isn't available online, but Obama's office confirmed the substance of Obama's remarks to NPR on Monday. And the event's moderator, Nicholas Fang of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, says the Today report is accurate.
"If you look at the world and look at the problems, it's usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way," Obama said, according to a BBC report about the event.
"They cling to power, they are insecure, they have outdated ideas and the energy and fresh vision and new approaches are squashed," he added, Today reports.
"Now women, I just want you to know, you are not perfect, but what I can say pretty indisputably is that you're better than us [men]," Obama said, according to the BBC.
Anyone else saying what Obama said would be labeled Transphobic. Social Media reaction would be swift, critical and non-stop. He would be forced to atone and walk-back his words. No one else could say this and escape criticism. Maybe Canada's Justin Trudeau, but he wouldn't make the mistake of excluding Trans-anyone.
It's "Okay."

We will never forget, and are forever indebted to, Mr. Sleestak's endeavors of immeasurable wisdom, his passions, his humor and his insights.Former Pennsylvania Rep. Joe Sestak on Sunday ended his long-shot 2020 presidential bid after failing to gain traction in the race for the Democratic Party's nomination.
"I want to thank you for the honor of running for President of the United States of America," Sestak said in a statement. "It has been an endeavor filled with immeasurable wisdom, passions, humor and insights to, and from, the people of America."
Sestak, who mounted unsuccessful bids for US Senate in 2010 and 2016, entered an already-crowded Democratic primary field in June hoping to leverage his career in the US Navy into a successful campaign, but did not qualify for any of the major Democratic presidential debates.

Leaked IPCC report reveals coastal communities around the world will be destroyed. Global banking on board with UN-backed climate principles.
Here we go, again.
The Scotsman (via Webpage Archive): Leaked IPCC report reveals coastal communities around the world will be destroyed.
This report was leaked. Yeah. Sure. That's believable.A new UN report is set to issue a stark warning on the impact of climate change on oceans and frozen areas, amid a push to ratchet up efforts to tackle the crisis.
The latest in a series of special reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is being published in the same week as countries meet at the UN for a summit aimed at upping ambitions on tackling global warming.
[.]
[The study] warn[s] of huge increases in flooding damage, melting ice caps and glaciers and more ocean heatwaves that bleach and kill coral.
A draft of the report leaked to AFP suggested that if global temperatures rise to 2C above pre-industrial levels, 280 million people could be displaced by rising seas.
What if the IPCC report is wrong and the reality of their outlook is far, far worse than they ever imagined? Shouldn't there be a mass exodus of people living near bodies of water who immediately put their homes up for sale and start moving inland? Why wait? Why take the chance? When the Elites start abandoning their ocean property, let the rest of us know.

Global financial institutions have caved to the U.N. and the worldwide, self-induced climate crisis hyperbole.
SBS News: Banks worth $69 trillion commit to new UN-backed climate principles.
Banks with more than $69 trillion in assets, or a third of the global industry, have adopted new UN-backed "responsible banking" principles to fight climate change that would shift their loan books away from fossil fuels.
Deutsche Bank, Citigroup and Barclays were among 130 banks to join the new framework on Sunday on the eve of a United Nations summit in New York aimed at pushing companies and governments to act quickly to avert catastrophic global warming.
"These principles mean banks have to consider the impact of their loans on society - not just on their portfolio," Simone Dettling, banking team lead for the Geneva-based United Nations Environment Finance Initiative, told Reuters.
[.]
Under pressure from investors, regulators and climate activists, some big banks have acknowledged the role lenders will need to play in a rapid transition to a low-carbon economy.
Financing for oil, gas and coal projects has come under particular scrutiny as climate scientists step up calls to change the global economy's deep reliance on fossil-fuels to avert disastrous warming.

Adam Schiff congressional seat challenged by drag queen Maebe A. Girl who says, "America disgusts me."
DEM Adam Schiff vs drag queen Maebe A. Girl. Cat-fight?
Maebe A. Girl, the self-described “larger-than-life” candidate, is challenging one of the current stars of the Democratic party.
[.]
“It’s essential that we get more queer representation in public office, especially at the national level,” she said. “We need more everyday people in Congress—its overwhelmingly older, white, wealthy men, and that’s just not representative of America, or my district.”
But it’s not going to be easy. The incumbent in the 28th district is Democratic U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff, a well-known critic of the Trump administration who has represented part of the Los Angeles area since 2001, and won in 2018 with over 75% of the vote. Plus, Girl is not the only challenger—four other candidates have signed up, including one other Democrat, an independent and two Republicans.
[.]
Girl describes herself as transgender and genderfluid (a term that encompasses people who do not ascribe to a particular gender) and said that running under her drag stage name drew some criticism. “People will say ‘I can’t take her seriously with that name, but it’s really just a statement about gender norms. I don’t feel like there’s a difference between Maebe A. Girl and me,” she said, making the comparison to celebrities like Lady Gaga, whose adopted names have come to define them.
She also decided to run in drag, which she said “is not in any way a costume” but rather an expression of her identity.
[.]
Girl described herself as “a larger-than-life kind of character,” who stands over six feet tall in heels, and has tattoos covering most of the space on her arms.
"America disgusts me," Maebe A. Girl, Facebook. (May I suggest Tehran as more hospitable?)

Jonathan Yaniv accused of trying to share child porn, sexual harassment of minors.
Jonathan Yaniv; enjoys playing "dress-up like a girl".
The Post Millennial: Jessica Jonathan Yaniv accused of trying to share child porn, sexual harassment of minors.
Jessica Rumpel provided The Post Millennial with evidence of explosive allegations of the sexual interference she experienced as a young teen at the hands of Jonathan “Jessica” Yaniv.
[.]
Twenty-year-old Ashley Smith of Ontario, whose name is being altered due to trauma and for the protection of her work and family, says she was victimized when, like Rumpel, she was a teen.
Ashley was just 14.
[.]
...Yaniv used 14-year-old Ashley Smith like a pawn, at one point instructing her to cyberbully 20-year-old Louise Nussac of Paris, France[.]
[.]
Like with Rumpel, Yaniv also sent Smith disturbing messages centred [sic] around menstruation.
In one of the messages Smith has provided, Yaniv is seen saying “I want to be really good friends with you, like really close” and asking the 14-year-old to tell them when she’s got her period. In another, Yaniv asks for advice on how to get feminine hygiene products from girls, what kinds of girls to ask, and whether or not to hang around outside of girls’ washrooms.
In this message, Yaniv admits to opening child pornography and tells the young girl, asking her “wanna see?”
Yaniv also says “I wish you were two years older,” implyingthey[he] would like to engage in sexual relations with Smith, and later asks her “would you date a guy who wore pads?”
[.]
Ashley Smith has told The Post Millennial she will be filing a formal police report this week on her experiences with Yaniv.

Gays denied a Proclamation for Pride celebration by Columbia Heights city claim discrimination.
Columbia Heights City council meeting; KSTP
Selection from the Columbia Heights City Proclamation Guidelines:Columbia Heights LGBTQ residents wanted to celebrate the city's first Pride festival, set to take place this coming Saturday.
They had hoped the celebration could start at Monday's city council meeting.
Instead, the group packed the small chambers for a different reason: to protest the mayor's decision not to issue a proclamation, recognizing and celebrating the inaugural event.
Explaining her decision, Mayor Donna Schmitt said the pride festival didn't fit within the guidelines for the ceremonial documents.
However, Schmitt did confirm to 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, those guidelines were developed the same week that organizers of the pride festival began asking about a proclamation. (So what about the timing of the Guidelines? - DD)
"It is not about a group, it's about, let's follow the guidelines," Schmitt said during an interview. "They can go out and celebrate, they are more than welcome to rent our parks and have a family friendly event as they have requested."
Organizers of the event say the decision has created concerns about discrimination in the city.
Amada Marquez Simula, who has been planning the event for months, said the group feels the event fits within the guidelines for recognition.
"She didn't think that it was important enough for a proclamation," Simula said.
Residents who went to Monday's council meeting admonished the mayor, voicing their frustrations during the public comment period.
"Right now, the eye is on Columbia Heights that our city government is biased against the LGBTQ community," Simula said.
Mayor Schmitt responded to those criticisms during an interview with 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, saying her decision was not motivated by the discrimination of any group.
"I just hope they realize, they don't represent everyone in the city either," Schmitt said.
The Pride festival will happen regardless.
A proclamation doesn't validate anyone. We are all responsible for our own validation. Validation comes from within, not from a proclamation.
Enjoy the festival. Celebrate. Have a great picnic. Be Happy. Have Fun. Don't Drink and
Drive. Enjoy the Day, I hope the weather is great! Savor the limited amount of time we all have on
harmony, instead of a proclamation.

Civil servant compensated £10,000, claims portrait of queen he has to walk by offended his human rights.
(Not the real portrait).
[C]ivil servant] Lee Hegarty complained under human rights legislation he should not have to work in an office that featured paintings of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
After his complaint, the portraits were removed and replaced with photographs of the royals meeting people in Northern Ireland during official visits.
But Lord Maginnis said he was most outraged that the senior official’s dispute was settled in secret with the then-Northern Ireland Secretary, Theresa Villiers, who approved a £10,000 compensation payment for “hurt feelings and distress”.

Dairy Guidelines Are Racist!
Washington Examiner: Dairy Guidelines are racist.
Of course the Dairy category is racist. Why did it take so long to notice? Dairy is segregated from the rest of the food groups on the above image. Looks like ChooseMyPlate.gov is Racist, too. Whose idea was it to make the Dairy plate so small and wall it off from the Big Plate? Oh, the Humanity...
Who, exactly, is forcing any lactose-intolerant person to consume dairy? Is there a Dairy Mafia I'm not aware of? Anyone?
"The vast majority of people of color in this country are intolerant of lactose and yet, because they think they have to eat [dairy], they go out and eat it and get sick," Milton Mills, a physician from Gilead Medical Group in Washington, D.C., said in a public meeting Thursday.
[.]
Mills said he was originally speaking to call out the "racism that is inherent in the U.S. dietary guidelines," but upon seeing the committee lacking any minorities, he understood why it was a problem.
[.]
"We need to remove dairy as a food group," said Amie Hamlin, from the Coalition for Healthy School Food, which advocates for plant-based diets in schools.

Canada: Six-year-old taught "no such thing as boys and girls".
The Christian Institute: Canada: Six-year-old taught "no such thing as boys and girls".
The parents of a six-year-old girl have filed a human rights complaint after her teacher told her “there is no such thing as boys and girls”.
Pamela Buffone said her daughter became increasingly distressed and worried, asking if she could “go to a doctor” and saying she was “not sure if she wanted to be a mommy”.
The family are now asking a tribunal to ensure that classroom discussion does not “devalue, deny or undermine” biological reality.
[.]...the teacher named as ‘JB’ showed the children at Devonshire Community Public School a video promoting radical gender ideology.
The video – ‘He, She and They?!? – Gender: Queer Kid Stuff #2’ – taught that “some people aren’t boys or girls” and some people don’t “feel like a ‘she’ or a ‘he’”.
The teacher then proceeded to tell the class “girls are not real and boys are not real”.
When the Buffones met with JB two months later to discuss their concerns, she claimed that gender ideology was part of the school policy and said she was ‘committed to the teaching of gender fluidity’.
The Buffones were increasingly concerned that their daughter was becoming traumatised.
Mum Pamela said her “gender identity is – or was – seamless comfort in her biological skin. She had never questioned that comfort.”
“Suddenly, she was told to believe that at any moment, what she believes to be real – that she is a girl – may not be true.”
“How very frightening that thought must be to a child”.
Their human rights complaint states that the teacher subjected their six-year-old daughter “to ongoing discrimination on the basis of gender and gender identity, by a series of lessons that denied the existence of the female gender and biological sex and undermined the value of identifying as female”.
Terrance: How many genders does Canada have, Phillip?
Phillip: Two. Three if you include Justin Trudeau.

Ottawa picks 11 communities for pilot immigration project.
Hit the link, read the rest. Note another reason given for the need of this program is the 'Continued vibrancy of rural areas', which, according to the government, are declining. The federal government has picked 11 communities from across Canada to kick off a new pilot program aimed at attracting immigrants to rural and northern communities.
The goal of the program is to bring newcomers to regions confronting severe labour shortages due to a youth exodus, declining birth rate and aging population.
[.]
"The equation is quite simple. Attracting and retaining newcomers with the needed skills equals a recipe for success for Canada's rural and northern communities," [said Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen]. "We have tested a similar immigration pilot in Atlantic Canada and it has already shown tremendous results for both newcomers and Canadians," [said Hussen].
The selected communities are:
Thunder Bay, Ont.
Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
Sudbury, Ont.
Timmins, Ont.
North Bay, Ont.
Gretna-Rhineland-Altona-Plum Coulee, Man.
Brandon, Man.
Moose Jaw, Sask.
Claresholm, Alta.
West Kootenay region of B.C.
Vernon, B.C.
The government will begin working with communities this summer to help them identify candidates for permanent residence as early as this fall. The first newcomers under the pilot are expected to arrive in 2020.
Terrance: Looks like we're getting new neighbors, Phillip.
Phillip: Hmmmmmmmmmm.
One point, (of so many that can be made): No government, anywhere or ever at any time, has successfully accomplished, "a quite simple equation." But hey, maybe we'll witness a First.

Is Oregon Live, The Oregonian, painting a sympathetic portrait of Angel Granados Dias, the armed student apprehended at Parkrose High?
I ran across an interesting thread on Reddit:
Is this a case of "if he'd been wearing a MAGA hat and his name was Nick Sandmann", would we know everything about his entire life by now?
While I haven't checked since earlier this morning, 4 and 8 Chan didn't have much info on the background and life of Dias.
Oregon Public Broadcasting has an event timeline on what occurred at Parkrose High School.
Deadspin: Former Oregon receiver Keanon Lowe tackled Dias.
"The rollout of Angel’s identity on OregonLive will come via a sympathetic puff-piece they are now preparing, focusing on mental health and personal/family adversity, especially if he is from a migrant family. Unlike other trench coat gunmen in schools, the pivot will be away from issues of firearm access and provenance."

Here's the link to the Oregon Live story. It's interesting to note that there are 28 reader comments that, earlier, were viewable, but now, clicking on "View Comments" results to the message of "Comments are not available for this story." Comments at the Reddit link are not kind towards The Oregonian and its coverage on this story.
