MN Republican Elliot Engen dons Superman costume to save Minneapolis.

Not my Rep but WTF is wrong with MN "Republican" Elliot Engen

CBS Via MSN: Rep. Elliott Engen of White Bear Lake is introducing a bill that would essentially override Minneapolis' ordinance and prevent any city or municipality from setting their own rules for rideshare driver pay.

KSTP: Walz urges lawmakers to take up rideshare legislation amid threats from Uber, Lyft.

[...] the Minneapolis City Council passed a new pay rate — meant to be an equivalent to the city’s minimum wage — for rideshare drivers who pick up, drop off or pass through the city. A 10-vote council majority overrode Mayor Jacob Frey’s veto.

While Lyft plans to end service only for trips that start or end in Minneapolis, Uber plans to cut options for the entire metro area, including Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

On Monday, House Assistant Minority Leader Rep. Elliot Engen, R-White Bear Township, filed a bill to try and preempt the Minneapolis City Council’s action.

Why try to preempt what is a city issue? Self-inflicted damage done by democrats and a guy with an R behind his name steps up to try and fix this? This isn't and shouldn't be a state issue, it should remain a city-by-city decision.

Never underestimate Republican's abilty at fucking up a Silver Platter handed to them by democrats. RINOs and Republicans do this; on local, state and federal levels. They fail to accept The Silver Platter handed to them. EFT!

Minneapolis and MN democrats dig a grave for themselves and MN RINOs leap in wanting to bail them out of a political blunder. Do you think if MN RINOs passed a bill that hurt them politically that MN democrats would step in, trying to help them? Hell No!

When democrats are digging themselves a grave, do NOTHING! Stand down, watch and let them.

I'll never vote for a MN Republican candidate again, ever. Won't be voting dem, but will happily vote for a Third Party candidate.

Maybe, if a time comes and the elected MN State RINOs number only a dozen,  a new Republican brand, one that is Conservative and not UniParty, will form and emerge.

Rare cougar sightings in Minneapolis.

FOX 9: Cougar sighted again in Minneapolis, may be using Cedar Lake trail system.

According to a city official, the cougar was recently spotted near Kenwood Park. Officials say there is now concern that the large cat might be using the Cedar Lake trail system near the Lake of the Isles.

"...near the Lake of The Isles." That's a nice, densely-populated area of Liberals. Let Kitty snack.😈

Woke state flag needed; adopt full time DST? Only if it keeps MN legislators from inflicting real harm.

Minneapolis Red Star: Minnesota Legislature opens 2020 election year session.
There also were lighter issues on the calendar — for one, whether to make daylight saving time permanent in the state. Another would look into redesigning the state flag.
More "Common sense" gun confiscation laws are also being pushed by the anti-2A crowd, who always seems to be a very liberal group comprised of those soft on crime and favoring endless unsuccessful rehabilitation programs.

Given the amount of daylight both states receive, it makes sense why Arizona and Hawaii don't observe DST. But Minnesota?

And the MN flag? It's offensive and "too jumbled". Its design, a madhouse! Of course this idea is from DEMS. How could it not be?

MSNDoes MN need a new flag? It’s too jumbled, some lawmakers say — and not so woke.
On Tuesday, the first day of the 2020 Minnesota legislative session in St. Paul, a proposal that could lead to a new state flag was among those that Democrats brought forward.

No, they clarify, it’s not their Number 1 priority. (Maybe, but the DEMS will spend a lot of time puffing their chests out on this. DD)

But you always get some things that aren’t anyone’s top priority, but that you can agree on,” said state Rep. Peter Fischer, DFL-Minneapolis, the lead sponsor of a bill that would create a task force to look at redesigning the flag.
Need a woke state flag? Gotta have a task force!

So then, it's still safe drinking gasoline?

...bill would force social media companies to post a warning whenever users access their accounts. The message would tell users that social media is addictive and that excessive use “may lead to mental health disorders, reduced productivity, lack of sleep, and social alienation.”
I'd write some commentary about our societal obsession with "Warnings About Everything" but I have to check my other accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SnapChat, Weibo, Reddit, 4Chan, 7Chan, 8Chan, 9Chan, PasteBin, Gab, Foursquare, Skype, Spotify, Pinterest, Badoo, Nextdoor, Xanga, Quora, Word Press, Vimeo, You Tube, Yelp, STEEM and...uh...I'm forgetting one.

Minnesota Govt Remains Open during the Big Chill. One elected Rep whines it's too cold. Surprise, it wasn't a Dem!

FOX 9 KMSP: Minnesota officials defend keeping government open during Big Chill.
Most of Minnesota state government remained open Wednesday despite the extreme cold, drawing concerns from one Republican state lawmaker that Minnesotans were being needlessly put in danger.

Gov. Tim Walz’s administration decided to keep state offices open, even as Wisconsin’s governor shuttered many state buildings, businesses closed, and the U.S. Postal Services suspended service for the day.
[.]
“Why would we put those workers at risk? Why would we put the troopers that have to respond if they have an accident, the tow truck drivers that have to respond if they have an accident, why are we putting them at risk unnecessarily?” state Rep. Marion O’Neill, R-Maple Lake, said in an interview. “We can shut down for one day. The world won’t end.”

Walz defended his decision to keep the government open, saying that he directed state agencies to decide what work would be unsafe because of the weather.

Not a fan of MN Gov. Timmy Walz, but I agree with him here.

Marion, everything in life has risk. You were elected to do a job. Do it. I'm guessing she can't identify the letter "D" from the letter "R".

For a part-time job lasting about six months, Minnesota elected legislators earn $45,000/year. Plus per diem.

The BIG ISSUE legislators have been wrestling over the past two days - an issue that apparently outranks all others - is naming an official "state" dog.

Pick a dog. Pick a breed. There are so many tough issues to tackle, choosing the "state dog" should take no more than fifteen minutes. A Labrador. A Husky. A Beagle. A Frikkin Poodle. Pick one, pick one fast and be done with it.  This is the debate the state legislators are having and one of them thinks they should have the day off because of the Big Chill?
