Electric regret: Almost half of Australian and US EV owners want to go back to a combustion engine.

JoNova: Electric regret: Almost half of Australian and US EV owners want to go back to a combustion engine.

Nearly half of American owners of electric cars want to switch back to traditional cars powered by internal combustion engines, according to a consumer survey released by McKinsey and Co. earlier this month.

How much longer can the saviours of the world keep trying to force this dead-horse “transition” upon us?

The car manufacturers surely realize they are being forced into a financial dead end.

California's next storm may bring 'life-threatening' flooding.

LA Times (Yahoo): 'Prepare now': California's next storm may bring 'life-threatening' flooding.

Officials across Southern California are warning residents to prepare for what could be "life-threatening and damaging flooding" beginning Sunday, as a storm system fueled by a massive atmospheric river brings heavy, sustained rainfall and dangerous waves to an already soaked region.

This storm could dump more than double Thursday's rainfall, which caused significant flooding, road closures and water rescues across the region.

"This is a potentially dangerous situation, and we are urging everyone to be preparing in advance," Ariel Cohen, a National Weather Service meteorologist, said Friday.

Where are the Amish Space Lasers to dry things out?

The Guardian: Would you drink toilet water? California approves wastewater for human consumption.

No, I wouldn't. Environmentalists have fought against, and won, in court cases against the construction of desalination plants. The alternative is drinking their own filtered urine. If only Cali was near a large body of water . . .

Thank Bill Gates for recycled water from urine and feces. He's been pushing this idea for over ten years ⏬

East Palestine Residents Give Grim Update after Toxic Train Wreck: ‘We’re Dying Slowly’.

Slay News: East Palestine Residents Give Grim Update after Toxic Train Wreck: ‘We’re Dying Slowly’.

Residents in East Palestine, Ohio have given a grim update on their declining health following the toxic train derailment earlier this month.

Locals in the small town, where a Norfolk Southern train derailed on February 3 causing a subsequent toxic explosion, say they are now suffering disturbing symptoms, the New York Post reports.

“Doctors say I definitely have the chemicals in me but there’s no one in town who can run the toxicological tests to find out which ones they are,” said 40-year-old Wade Lovett.

Lovett now has a high-pitched voice that sounds as if he’s been inhaling helium.

‘My voice sounds like Mickey Mouse,” he said.
[.]
“It’s hard to breathe, especially at night.

“My chest hurts so much at night I feel like I’m drowning.

“I cough up phlegm a lot.

“I lost my job because the doctor won’t release me to go to work.”
[.]
Many of them are facing health issues from the chemical fire as well as the psychic toll of their town becoming, in the words of a scientist visiting the area Thursday, the new “Love Canal” — a reference to the Niagara Falls, NY, neighborhood that became a hotbed issue in 1978 because people were getting sick from living above a contaminated waste dump.

Many residents are also complaining of mystery rashes and sore throats after returning home following the lifting of evacuation orders on February 8.

“Yesterday was the first day in probably three or four days that I could smell anything,” said Shelby Walker, who lives a few yards from the epicenter of the crash and explosion.

“I lost my smell and my sense of taste.

“I had an eye infection in both eyes.

“I was having respiratory issues like I was just out of breath.

“Other members of my family have had eye infections and strep throat.

“The cleanup crew drives past us at night and won’t even look at us.

“It’s like we don’t exist. No one has reached out to us or told us anything.”

According to an independent analysis of EPA data by Texas A&M University released on Friday, nine air pollutants were found around East Palestine at levels that could cause long-term health concerns.
[.]
According to Harvard-trained toxicologist, Stephen Lester, the hot zone at East Palestine is one of the “most concerning” he’s ever seen – and warned that the chemical dioxin that was released during the controlled burn will be embedded in the soil and water.

“Until the government takes this seriously there are going to be real problems,” said Lester.

It’s criminal that the EPA didn’t come forward with information about dioxin and start testing for it.”

Biden and Company don't care about Americans. They're far too busy propping up their latex-wearing Tiny Dancer/ex comedian installed ruler of Ukraine.

If the soil and water in EP is in such great condition, why not haul it to Rehoboth Beach and dump it near Senile Joe's estate?

Trump in East Palestine, OH on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

Breitbart: Trump Slams Biden for Visiting Ukraine Before East Palestine: ‘Get Over Here’.

-

FWIW, I don't think Biden will ever show up in East Palestine. It's too late now. Same as Biden not getting anywhere near the Southern Border.

Some news stories say Trans Sec Buttgieg will be in EP tomorrow. I wonder if he'll receive the same warm, appreciative, loving, sincere welcome that Trump received from people who have been forgotten by the Biden Admin, his supporters, his handlers, his voters, the EPA and the EnviroTardsCelebrity Crowd?

Where is the massive, usual loud crowd of Liberals endorsing GoFundMe accounts for the people of EP and others affected by this derailment? Why are these people so suddenly mute? Where are they?

Benny at Twitter has a good timeline of Trump in EP. Oh, there's plenty of replies in that Thread from people still suffering from self-induced, severe, incurable, crippling, unhinged, metastatic TDS-madness. 🤣

Oh noez! Europe is having a Wind Drought. So much for turbine power.

Green Matters: European Wind Turbines at a Standstill Amid an Ongoing "Wind Drought".

But as of recently, barely even a breeze has made its way through the through the winter air.
[.]
"Britain is in the middle of a wind drought — and the timing couldn't have been worse. For several days now, the U.K. and western Europe have been calm, with barely a breeze," Thomas Moore writes for Sky News.

"It is not until Wednesday, or even Thursday, that speeds pick up in Scotland and the North Sea, where most of our wind farms are. That shows in the mix of energy being used in the freezing conditions."

"The risks could increase with global warming," [🤣 - DD] he continues. "Scientists working for the United Nations' intergovernmental panel on climate change have looked at what could happen to wind speeds in future. Even if the world reaches net zero soon after 2050, limiting the rise in temperature, winds will weaken significantly in the northern hemisphere." ["Even if." FFS. Retardicus Maximus. - DD]
[.]
According to Yale Environment 360, the phrase "wind drought" is exactly what it sounds like — it refers to an extended period of time that an area lacks wind, or experiences slower-than-usual wind speeds. In 2021, wind speeds were 15 percent slower than in previous years, making for one of the least windy periods in the U.K. in nearly 60 years.

What are "usual wind speeds"?

Git yer fans out folks, them turbhans ain't gonna spin themselves!

Militant Vegans FAFO.

The Telegraph (Archived): Restaurant scraps plant-based dishes after becoming fed up with ‘holier-than-thou’ vegans.

Isle of Wight eatery defends itself against ‘nasty’ and ‘bullying’ vegans who were furious that their diet was not catered for.

An award-winning cafe has at hit out at “holier-than-thou” vegan customers saying they shouldn’t have to adapt their menu to “suit” customers who don’t eat animal products.

The Kitchen at London House on the Isle of Wight went online to defend itself against “nasty” and “bullying” vegans who were outraged at their decision to refuse to cater to their diets.

Addressing its critics, it said: “If you want vegan food, go to a vegan restaurant.”

The popular high street restaurant in Ventnor said that though it used to serve some vegan food, they decided to stop because of a “militant minority” that spoilt it for the majority.
[.]
[The Kitchen at London House posted on their Facebook page] "some nasty people have felt it’s their place and right to criticise this fact. Do you think that bullying someone is going to endear them to you? Is it going to make them rethink their decision…maybe I should? NO it does not!

We have in the past catered for vegans. Everything from Vegan cream teas, even had special Vegan bacon made so they could enjoy BLT’s amongst other things.

“We stopped. Why? Because we got fed up with the arrogant, ‘holier-than-thou’ attitude.”
[.]
[Sally Cooper, the bistro owner] said, “We produce tasty, home-cooked food. We don’t want to cook plant burgers, pulses and beans. It’s not our food.”

She said that since her post she had received a call to the shop from a man who had called her a ‘disgusting, dreadful woman.

However, the overwhelming reaction had been supportive, she said.

It seems like the bistro went beyond the call of duty in providing vegan meal choices. They made Vegan bacon! (Wow is that an oxymoron). Vegan Bacon! And the VegaTards acted as selfish, privileged, indignant, petulant, little blobs of protoplasm.

Militant Vegans - like Militant Anyones - always ruin it for others. Good for you, Sally Cooper! I'm glad she didn't cave to the Militant Vegans.

If only California was located near a large body of water.

Yahoo: As climate-change-fueled drought worsens, California issues water restrictions for millions of residents.

Officials in California, now in its third year of drought that scientists have linked to climate change, have issued unprecedented water restrictions for millions of residents.
[.]
...the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) has issued restrictions on roughly 6 million customers. The cutback, which begins on June 1, prohibits residents from watering lawns and plants more than one day per week.
[.]
“We are seeing conditions unlike anything we have seen before,” Adel Hagekhalil, the district’s general manager, told the Los Angeles Times. “We need serious demand reductions.”

Story Archived.

No, Adel, there is a demand for more water and you're unwilling to do what it takes to supply it. If you provide what the public needs, they can't be controlled and manipulated.

Apocalyptic bird flu "could" kill half of us. Blame chickens, says expert.

The coronavirus has killed over 365,000 people worldwide in just five months — but that’s nothing compared to what could be coming if humans don’t clean up their act when it comes to chickens.

In his new book, “How to Survive a Pandemic,” Dr. Michael Gregor, a scientist and physician who once testified for Oprah Winfrey in her “meat defamation” trial, warns that an apocalyptic virus emanating from overcrowded and unsanitary chicken farms has the potential to wipe out half of humanity.

Greger, a vegan, writes that “In the ‘hurricane scale’ of epidemics, COVID-19, with a death rate of around half of one percent, rates a measly Category Two, possibly a Three. … The Big One, the typhoon to end all typhoons, will be 100 times worse when it comes, a Category Five producing a fatality rate of one in two. … Civilization as we know it would cease.”

While environmentalists warned earlier this month that the world would face another stronger epidemic if we continue to have contact with wildlife, Gregor places the blame squarely on chickens.
Chickens never liked us.

Have we started panic buying and hoarding toilet paper yet?

New plant-based bottles will degrade in a year.

Oh no! We'll need to find a new global pollutant!

Beer and soft drinks could soon be sipped from “all-plant” bottles under new plans to turn sustainably grown crops into plastic in partnership with major beverage makers.

[Avantium] biochemicals company in the Netherlands hopes to kickstart investment in a pioneering project that hopes to make plastics from plant sugars rather than fossil fuels.
[.]
“This plastic has very attractive sustainability credentials because it uses no fossil fuels, and can be recycled – but would also degrade in nature much faster than normal plastics do,” says [Avantium’s chief executive, Tom van Aken].

Avantium’s plant plastic is designed to be resilient enough to contain carbonate drinks. Trials have shown that the plant plastic would decompose in one year using a composter, and a few years longer if left in normal outdoor conditions. But ideally, it should be recycled, said Van Aken.
From "kickstart 'hopes to'" to "finished, completed successful product" is a long, long road.

If the new degradable bottles are successful, will that mean an end to all the ugly park benches made from recycled plastic? Awwwww, that's a shame.

Illinois STATE law would ban gas leaf blowers. SB3313 by DEM State Senator Laura Fine.

A Senate bill in Illinois would ban the use or sale of gas-powered leaf blowers in the state.

SB3313 filed last week by Senator Laura Fine (D) of the 9th Senate District amends the Environmental Protection Act. It states that "a person may not operate or sell at retail a gas-powered leaf blower in the State. Provides that a person who violates the amendatory Act's provisions shall be subject to a civil penalty not to exceed $500."

The bill lists environmental and noise pollution as the reasons for the ban.
[.]
These emissions, the bill states, are a contributing factor to smog formation and acid rain.
[.]
In addition, it states that leaf blowers send dust and other small particles like metals, allergens, and animal feces into the air for considerable distances.
Synopsis of SB3313.

Ms. Fine previously was a State Representative (and before that a township clerk) before being elected to the Illinois Senate which she won, according to the Wiki entry, by running unopposed.

Acid rain? Talk about stretching and grasping at straws for justification excuses. And yeah, only leaf blowers send "dust and other particles" into the air. No other product or device does this.

$500 bucks. It's all about revenue. If you live in Illinois, and this bill passes and you own a gas leaf blower - what are you going to do with it? You can't legally use it and you can't sell it in-state. Where will it end up? Yet another landfill.

Gas-powered lawn equipment ban proposed in Santa Maria.

California regulators have proposed a ban on the sale of gas-powered landscaping equipment, worrying Santa Maria Valley landscapers who say the move would impact their ability to serve their clients.

State regulators with the California Air Resources Board said they plan to ask board members to sign off on a plan by the end of the year to gradually reduce the emissions from items like lawn mowers and leaf blowers to zero.

The move is an important one to reduce air pollution, said Karen Caesar, a spokeswoman for the board.

Caesar said the work put into reducing pollution from car engines hasn’t translated at the same level for lawn mowers, and that the devices often emit more harmful gases than cars.

According to CARB, running the best-selling leaf blower for one hour releases as much smog-forming pollution as driving a 2017 Toyota Camry from Los Angeles to Denver.
[.]
When you’re talking about mowing a school, an electric piece of equipment to mow an area that big doesn’t exist,” he said. “You’d have to change 12 batteries to mow one grass area — that’s insane,” [said Neil Towery, general manager of All Weather Landscape Maintenance in Santa Maria].

Ernie Torres, who owns PJD Landscape Management, said electrical equipment wouldn't be practical for commercial landscapers.

Now They're Coming For Our Toilet Paper.

... the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) issued a report titled “The Issue With Tissue." The whole point was to give leading brands of toilet paper a sustainability grade and make people aware it does come from trees - lots of tree [sic].
[.]
... there is a whole other group of consumers who are turning up their collective noses at buying "recycled brands," igniting a demand for "virgin" toilet paper.
[.]
The whole point of this toilet paper revolution we are going through is to acknowledge that there is a better way to live sustainably and be environmentally conscious. In place of cutting down any more trees, we now have a choice of using three types of Toilet paper - 100 percent bamboo, as Tushy sells, toilet paper made from a mix of bamboo and sugar cane fibers, or TP made from 100 percent recycled paper[.]
MSNAmazon shoppers buy a lot of toilet paper and potato chips.

Is there an environmental-friendly link between the two?

Dairy Guidelines Are Racist!

Washington Examiner: Dairy Guidelines are racist.
"The vast majority of people of color in this country are intolerant of lactose and yet, because they think they have to eat [dairy], they go out and eat it and get sick," Milton Mills, a physician from Gilead Medical Group in Washington, D.C., said in a public meeting Thursday.
[.]
Mills said he was originally speaking to call out the "racism that is inherent in the U.S. dietary guidelines," but upon seeing the committee lacking any minorities, he understood why it was a problem.
[.]
"We need to remove dairy as a food group," said Amie Hamlin, from the Coalition for Healthy School Food, which advocates for plant-based diets in schools.

Of course the Dairy category is racist. Why did it take so long to notice? Dairy is segregated from the rest of the food groups on the above image. Looks like ChooseMyPlate.gov is Racist, too. Whose idea was it to make the Dairy plate so small and wall it off from the Big Plate? Oh, the Humanity...

Who, exactly, is forcing any lactose-intolerant person to consume dairy? Is there a Dairy Mafia I'm not aware of? Anyone?

Eco-Friendly, too? How didn't anyone think of this before?

BBC: More demand for deliveries of milk in glass bottles.
Luckett's Dairy, in Coventry, says its delivery business is rocketing, with new customers wanting to cut down on plastic waste by having re-usable glass bottles delivered.

California considers ban on complimentary hotel shampoo.

...And then, only outlaws will have small bottles of shampoo.

Daily Mail: California plan to ban free hotel shampoo.
A bill passed in California on Monday could ban hotels in the state from supplying guests with small complimentary bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and other care products.

The move comes as part of an effort to stem plastic consumption and also limit plastic waste thrown out by guests and hotel operators.
[.]
If the bill becomes a law, lodging establishments would be inspected regularly and any owners or operators found to in breach of the statute would face hefty fines.
Maybe this bill simply seeks a method to prevent Joe Biden from inhaling their hair.

Next up, hotel guests will be required to bring their own TP.

Environmentalists Seek to Starve Wild Elk

Those wacky, animal loving hating, earth loving EnviroTards are at it again.

I wonder if these are the same kind of people who made death threats to Knut, the German polar bear cub?

You remember Knut...the adorable polar bear cub that animal rights' activists wanted to KILL?

Knut,
December 5, 2006 – March 19, 2011

Well, make way, here come The Elk Haters. Courthouse News Service:
Four conservation groups claim in court the U.S. Forest Service’s approval of a revised permit to allow the continued feeding of wild elk in Wyoming’s Bridger-Teton National Forest is endangering the herd and elevating its risk of getting and spreading a chronic wasting disease.

In a June 5 complaint filed in Washington, the Sierra Club, Wyoming Wildlife Advocates, Western Watersheds Project and the Gallatin Wildlife Association say that the negative effects of feeding the wild elk hay in centralized locations are well-known. [ Yet, in the story, these wildlife "associations" are unable to articulate any specific study or research; or link and causation, for their not wanting the elk to be fed. - D.D. ]

Artificial feeding stretches back to the early 1900s and continues today to discourage wild elk from pillaging privately-owned haystacks on private land, the 28-page complaint notes.
And...
There is no trace of lethal chronic wasting disease in the Jackson elk herd yet, but it has been found in deer about 40 miles away. If it reaches the herd, the conservation groups say the disease could contaminate and devastate the entire ecosystem.
“Although the specific mode of transmission has not been identified[...]
Don't you just love the lack of synapse firing and the illogical reasoning used by EnviroTards and their lawyers?

"There is no wasting disease......YET!" How can these groups claim the feeding is, "endangering the herd and elevating its risk of getting and spreading a chronic wasting disease," WHEN THEY DO NOT YET KNOW?!?!?

And while they "haven't identified the mode of transmission...they suspect it has something to do with Mercury being in retrograde during a full moon when, and only when, a rising sign is in the House of Jupiter on an odd numbered day in a neighborhood when you can only water your lawn on an even numbered day. See addendum on how to deal with this during Leap Years." Then, and ONLY THEN, can the feeding of wildlife be permitted that would not be available if not for humans providing it.

Image via: imgarcade.com

I'm not against NOT feeding wild animals. Doing so can bring a dependence on artificial feeding that is not natural for any wildlife.

But here's the trade off: I deer hunt. Well, not so much anymore, but I did for years and so did my Dad, brothers, uncles, friends and many others.

Inevitably during deer season someone would say, "oh, it's so sad to shoot a deer."

Well, would you rather have one starve to death? Because one reason states have hunting seasons on certain species is, in part, preventing overpopulation.

What about you, Mister, Misses and "Mizz" EnviroTard? Would you rather starve to death or know you could be put out of your misery by the shot of a rifle?
The conservation groups accuse the U.S. Forest Service of violating the National Environmental Policy Act by discounting the danger of lethal chronic wasting disease, failing to consider alternatives, precluding public comments before signing off on the extended permit, and ignoring the 2007 Bison and Elk Management Plan.
No one knows if chronic wasting disease (CWD) has infected, or will infect, the elk. This is so incredibly typical of the EnviroTard Liberal mindset:  Although the EnviroTards have no conclusive proof of - in this case CWD - interject a solution not only where one may not be needed, but where any reason to do so is unknown, or at the very best, inconclusive. Kind of sounds like the global warming climate change crowd, doesn't it?

You know who wins in a case like this? The lawyers.

You know who has the most potential to lose? The Elk.

This incessant obsession with (some) humans to interject a human element into something that should run a natural, non-human course called Nature is what, in the past, has shown to fail over and over again.

I'd like to see the Elk and the EnviroTards trade places. Imagine, you're driving on a road in a rural area and you see a group of EnviroTards gaunt and starving in a field. They have nothing to eat because U.S. Wildlife and the Forest Service are banned from feeding them. Damn, how do we make this happen?
