DNC protests have been mostly peaceful, per Chicago Sun Times.
Chicago Sun Times (August 21, 2024): DNC protests have been mostly peaceful. Let's hope it stays that way.
And on Wednesday, pro-Palestinian protesters marched peacefully from Union Park toward the United Center just as the evening’s events were about to get underway.
If you're only getting your news by Doom and Gloom scrolling on X or TikTok, you wouldn't know this. Pulling a select psy-op video off X or TikTok isn't trustworthy. Unfortunately that's the only news some people believe. Chicago Sun Times is reporting "mostly peaceful." They should know, right?

Obama appointed federal judge rules non-citizen "newcomers" have a right to carry; protected by 2A.
Newsweek: Undocumented Immigrants Have Right to Own Guns, Judge Rules.
A judge this month dropped gun charges against an illegal migrant in Illinois, sparking further debate about the rights associated with the Second Amendment.
U.S. District Court Judge Sharon Coleman of the Northern District of Illinois referenced lower court rulings in dismissing firearm possession charges against Heriberto Carbajal-Flores, who was illegally or unlawfully in the United States when he possessed a handgun in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago on June 1, 2020.
"The Court finds that Carbajal-Flores' criminal record, containing no improper use of a weapon, as well as the non-violent circumstances of his arrest do not support a finding that he poses a risk to public safety such that he cannot be trusted to use a weapon responsibly and should be deprived of his Second Amendment right to bear arms in self-defense," Coleman, who was appointed under President Barack Obama, wrote in her eight-page ruling filed March 8.
Carbajal-Flores was charged under Title 18 of U.S. Criminal Code, which legally disallows undocumented individuals to possess firearms and ammunition "or to receive any firearm or ammunition which has been shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce."
Meanwhile, democrats actively seek to pass legislation that prohibits some U.S. Military Veterans from owning guns.

NRA-ILA: Anti-gun Democrats Seek to Undermine Law Passed to Protect Veterans’ Rights.
[...] a partisan coalition of anti-gun Congressional Democrats – all but two of whom actually voted for the spending package – is now leaning on the VA to ignore or undermine the rider. In doing so, they are using the usual anti-gun tactics of fearmongering, misinformation, and gaslighting.
[.]
The attempt came in a March 13 letter spearheaded by Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA), chairman of the so-called House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, to the Secretary of the VA, Denis McDonough, and was signed by 138 Democrat members of Congress.
[.]
The claims in the letter, unsurprisingly, do not hold up to scrutiny and in some cases actually lend support to the rider itself.
[.]
It's true that statutory law allows the VA to make a “competency” determination for the process of administering its own system of benefits. But that determination has no legal effect outside of that context. As the VA states on its own website, “The determination that you are unable to manage your VA benefits does not affect your non-VA finances, or your right to vote or contract.” This makes sense, as it is a purely administrative procedure that contains no adversarial process unless the beneficiary decides to challenge the action after the fact.
Even then, these appeals are processed in the first instance by the VA itself. And it makes perfect sense for some beneficiaries to have a fiduciary, while also legally possessing firearms. The insinuation that standards for assigning a fiduciary take into an account a veteran’s propensity for posing a physical danger to self or other is patently false.

U.S. Senate Committee on Veteran's Affairs: After Tester Push, Provision to Protect Veterans’ Second Amendment Rights from Federal Overreach is Included in Must-Pass Government Funding Bill.
A critical bipartisan amendment U.S. Senator Jon Tester championed to protect veterans’ access to legal firearms has been included in the government funding legislation, following his call to Senate leadership to include the provision.
“It’s flat wrong that a DC bureaucrat could take away a veteran’s legal right to firearms simply because they need assistance managing their finances,” Tester said. “We need to ensure the government does not infringe on veterans’ Second Amendment rights, and I’m glad we were able to fix this unfair policy in the government funding legislation. This is a win for Second Amendment rights and for veterans who have made it clear that VA’s current practice is pushing some folks away from accessing the mental health care they need out of fear their firearms will be seized.”
Tester's bill passed, yet democrats immediately work at trying to undo it.

Roll Call: House Democrats urge VA to find gun rider workaround.
“We are calling on the Department of Veterans Affairs to use their power to bypass this rollback and they must do so before a single life is lost because of this legislation,” Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost of Florida said in a statement. He was one of three Democrats, including Sen. Christopher S. Murphy of Connecticut and House Veterans’ Affairs ranking member Mark Takano of California, to vote against the spending law.
The House members urged the VA to establish processes that would automatically seek a judicial order for veterans deemed mentally incompetent. The department should stretch appropriations from previous years out for as long as possible, which would allow the VA to continue reporting names to the FBI background check system while putting those processes in place, the lawmakers said.
[.]
The department should also make full use of state red flag laws to report concerning behavior from veterans and educate state VA facilities about the tools available to them, the letter said.

Naperville, IL councilman asks affluent residents to house illegal migrants.
Washington Examiner: Councilman in wealthy Chicago suburb asks ‘affluent’ residents to take illegal immigrants into homes.
A city councilman in a wealthy Chicago suburb is calling on residents of his “affluent community” to welcome illegal immigrants into their homes as the migrant crisis continues to ravage Chicago.
The influx of migrants who have arrived in Chicago from the southern border is becoming an unendurable burden for the area’s resources, and Naperville Councilman Josh McBroom does not want to see tax dollars fund the transient population, according to a report.
“The public should also know taxpayer dollars are not, and will not, be used to house any potential migrants in the neighborhood. [ Not yet. - DD ] There’s been some misinformation out there.”
The needs of the migrants could rather be met by residents voluntarily welcoming the illegal immigrants into their homes, McBroom suggested.
Meet Josh McBroom.
Sounds like another Martha's Vineyard Experience in the making.
People in affluent communities aren't already providing shelter and food to the new neighbors? Shocking! How dare they!

Meanwhile, in Chicago - and in cities across the nation - American citizens, some of whom are Veterans, are homeless and sleeping on the streets. Where are their hotel rooms, Lori?
Who's paying for the hotel rooms? Ha, we - the taxpayers. I wonder what the condition of this Hampton Inn will look like after 30 days?

Orland Park, IL Mayor Keith Pekau warns of upcoming 2023 $0 bail.
Pekau, a Republican leading the city of Orland Park, Illinois, said the 780-page bill was passed "in the middle of the night, with just 40 minutes of debate" and was purposely designed by Democrats to take effect on Jan. 1, 2023, after the midterm election knowing what it will do to escalate crime.
[.]
[...] Pekau said he felt compelled to speak out against the 2021 SAFE-T Act. He said the legislation will allow suspects charged with kidnapping – as well as second-degree murder, drug-induced homicide, aggravated battery, burglary, robbery and arson – to be released on $0.
"We already have this problem a little bit in Cook County, where they're letting violent criminals out on low bail or no bail. And you’ve seen what's happening in Chicago with crime and how much crime has spiked because of it," Pekau told Fox News Digital. "Like that policy on steroids is what this is. And it will be completely statewide, and it's a law. So it's not like the police can do anything."

Sanctuary City Mayor Lighfoot says it's "immoral and unpatriotic" to bus migrants to Chicago.
Breitbart: Democrat Lori Lightfoot: ‘Immoral, Unpatriotic’ to Bus Migrants to Chicago.
Chicago, Illinois, Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) now says it is “immoral” and “unpatriotic” for Gov. Greg Abbott (R) to bus migrants from Texas to the sanctuary city.
Initially, Lightfoot balked at the migrant buses by calling them “racist and xenophobic.” While visiting a shelter last week, Lightfoot called Abbott’s buses “immoral, unpatriotic” and claimed the operation “defies the values of who we are as Americans.”
Lori is mad. Oh, when Chicago City Limits suddenly become the Southern Border she gets hostile. Well, that's not very Sanctuary City of her. Where's Teh Love, Lori?
She has no answers, no plan. Not for Chicagoans or the newly arrived Vibrant mix of potential Democrat voters. Her go-to reaction always is to defensively lash out at people. It's her only game.

Illinois DEM Gov Pritzker says, "People deserve to breathe."
Why the governor of Illinois would comment on something that occurred in Minneapolis, Minnesota is puzzling. Perhaps he wants to deflect attention away from all of his failures.“People deserve to breathe,” Pritzker said.
It's nice knowing that J.B. thinks people deserve to breathe and hasn't yet revoked or suspended that basic human right.
The intellect of some Liberal politicians is astounding. I'm sure the people of Illinois are relieved hearing that their governor thinks they deserve to breathe.

Mrs. Pritzker jets to Florida while Illinois remains on lockdown.
Ahhhhhh......that Wealthy White Female Liberal Privilege. It gets ya out of lockdown every time. And what must have been a private jet? Anyone?M.K. Pritzker, the billionaire wife of Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D), is reportedly skipping out on her husband’s stringent lockdown orders, jetting off to their $12.1 million equestrian estate in South Florida — a state that has refused to implement what Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) described as “draconian” measures as a response to the coronavirus pandemic.
While Pritzker finds himself in the middle of a legal battle over his extension of the his lockdown order, extending it until May 30 and promoting his All-in Illinois initiative, his wife is nowhere to be seen, at least in the Prairie State.
According to Patch, first lady M.K. Pritzker is staying at the couple’s $12.1 million estate in Florida, as the governor has largely refrained from mentioning his wife while fielding questions regarding his own well-being[.]

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot gets a haircut!
It's called Liberal Privilege. It's a Perk!Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot took guff Monday for getting a haircut only a week after scolding the Windy City for not shutting down “non-essential” businesses, including barbers and beauty salons.
The celebrated first openly gay mayor was pressed by the Chicago media over the haircut she got over the weekend. But Lightfoot insisted that since she is the “face of the city,” she deserves to be excused from the governor’s orders to shut down non-essential businesses as a measure to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus.
The vain mayor told the media:
"I’m the public face of this city. I’m on national media and I’m out in the public eye.
"I’m a person who, I take my personal hygiene very seriously. As I said, I felt like I needed to have a haircut. I’m not able to do that myself, so I got a haircut. You want to talk more about that?"
[.]
But the mayor is not exactly practicing what she has been preaching, because she has several times scolded those Chicagoans who have been seen out in public “unnecessarily.”
Last week, Lightfoot aimed at Chicagoans, who insisted on walking, biking, and jogging on the city’s famed lakefront.
“Congregating on our lakefront, to be blunt, is going to create a risk that is unacceptable and could lead to death. That is why we are taking these actions and going back and saying again: dear god, stay home, save lives,” she said after a city employee reportedly died from the virus.
Indeed, after shutting down Chicago’s lakefront, Lightfoot sent out squadrons of Chicago Police officers to stand sentry to prevent people from using the paths, sidewalks, and lakefront facilities.
Lightfoot even scolded the media for simply talking about her haircut fiasco.

Illinois STATE law would ban gas leaf blowers. SB3313 by DEM State Senator Laura Fine.
Synopsis of SB3313.A Senate bill in Illinois would ban the use or sale of gas-powered leaf blowers in the state.
SB3313 filed last week by Senator Laura Fine (D) of the 9th Senate District amends the Environmental Protection Act. It states that "a person may not operate or sell at retail a gas-powered leaf blower in the State. Provides that a person who violates the amendatory Act's provisions shall be subject to a civil penalty not to exceed $500."
The bill lists environmental and noise pollution as the reasons for the ban.
[.]
These emissions, the bill states, are a contributing factor to smog formation and acid rain.
[.]
In addition, it states that leaf blowers send dust and other small particles like metals, allergens, and animal feces into the air for considerable distances.
Ms. Fine previously was a State Representative (and before that a township clerk) before being elected to the Illinois Senate which she won, according to the Wiki entry, by running unopposed.
Acid rain? Talk about stretching and grasping at straws for
$500 bucks. It's all about revenue. If you live in Illinois, and this bill passes and you own a gas leaf blower - what are you going to do with it? You can't legally use it and you can't sell it in-state. Where will it end up? Yet another landfill.

Illinois Trans Lieutenant Colonel Pritzker Rejects His Sex and Political Affiliation.
Read the whole story at the link.Lieutenant Colonel James Nicholas Pritzker—now known as “Jennifer Natalya” Pritzker—is trying to commandeer the Republican Party to serve the interests of the “trans” cult he officially joined in 2013.
A year ago Pritzker, a long-time RINO donor to GOP campaigns—often the campaigns of RINOs—who has the dubious distinction of being the world’s “only known trans billionaire,” threatened the GOP that if they didn’t climb aboard the “trans” train, he was piling all his buckets of ducats on it and chugging away. He’s making good on his threat.
[.]
Pritzker reversed his position on the GOP. He has now donated to the presidential campaign of Pete Buttigieg—another man who, like Pritzker, seeks to use power to advance sexual perversion.
Now Pritzker rejects both his sex and his political affiliation, thereby demonstrating that he cares more about his deviant sexual desires than fiscal matters, gun control, or defense.
Pritzker’s use of his checkbook to spread the toxic “trans” ideology isn’t limited to supporting Democrats and extorting the GOP.
