Some Headlines.

ProPublicaTrump Administration Aims to Penalize Disabled Adults Who Live With Their Families

Now, President Donald Trump’s administration is poised to penalize people like Burton simply for living in the same home as their families, according to four federal officials, internal emails and a federal regulatory listing. The administration is working on a rule change that would deduct the value of a disabled adult’s bedroom from their SSI allotment, even if the family members they live with are poor enough to qualify for food stamps. This would mean slashing the benefits of some of the most low-income SSI recipients by up to a third — about $330 a month in Burton’s case — or ending their support altogether.
[.]
(The disability programs are administered by the Social Security Administration but separate from the retirement program for which the agency is named. The Trump administration has promised not to cut Social Security retirement payments.)

The likely SSI cut will affect not just younger adults with disabilities such as Down syndrome and severe autism who are still living at home with their low-income parents, but also older people with health or financial problems who have had to move in with their adult children on tight budgets. All told, as many as 400,000 poor and disabled people and indigent older people across the United States could have their support cut or eliminated, according to a ProPublica analysis of actuarial figures from the Social Security Administration.
[...] anyone living at home beyond age 18 without paying full rent will be treated as if they have a benefactor. The value of their bedroom as well as any income and assets their family may have will be calculated and recalculated as often as every month and deducted from their SSI check
[.]
If enacted, the change will require intellectually disabled young people like Burton as well as very elderly people to file extensive monthly reports if they want to continue their benefits even at the reduced level. They’ll have to provide details about the property where they live: whether it’s leased or owned, as well as the names of anyone in the home, and whether any of these people has any new income or assets. They’ll also have to include documentation of all household bills and expenses, showing how much they do or don’t contribute personally, as well as financial documents such as bank statements and any pay stubs

Burdensome, time-consuming monthly requirements. An idea void of compassion. It's heartless and cruel. I wonder who's behind it?

Raw Story: 'Voters are just done': New poll shows Trump plunging to dire lows.

The poll, conducted by Reuters/Ipsos, found the president languishing at 34 percent approval, with 64 percent disapproving — the lowest of Trump's second term.

It also found that a dismal all-time low 22 percent approve of his handling of cost-of-living issues, as the Iran war continues to drive up gas prices and destabilize inflation.
[.]
"This includes AFTER the shooting at the correspondents' dinner," wrote Eric Michael Garcia of The Independent. "Voters are just done with Trump. They are angry about the economy and gas prices."

ABC News: Gas prices hit $4.23 per gallon.

Gasoline prices in the United States hit their highest level in four years on Tuesday as negotiations over the Iran war appeared to show little signs of a resolution.

The price of an average gallon of gas stands at $4.17, marking an increase of $1.19 per gallon since the war began on Feb. 28, AAA data showed. That amounts to a 28% jump in about two months.

CNBC: Powell to stay on board

Polling shows global loss of support for Israel.

TIME (January 2024): New Polling Shows How Much Global Support Israel Has Lost

[...] support for Israel around the world has dropped significantly since the war in Gaza began.
[.]
The U.S. remains the only rich country that still had net positive views of Israel. [Gee, I wonder why? - DD]
[.]
Washington's support for Israel carries a cost in global public opinion, however, particularly in Arab countries, the surveys show. In Egypt, the U.S. went from having a positive favorability of 41.1 to a negative favorability of -14.9 from September to December. In Saudi Arabia, the U.S. saw a similar trend, dropping from a positive favorability of 12.2 to -10.5 over the same time period.

It's not in America's best interest to blindly support Israel. Why does it continue? That's easy; Follow the Money.

"Pollster" with fake hair Frank Luntz says, "it's time for Republicans to move on" from Trump.

The Hill: GOP pollster Frank Luntz: Republicans are saying ‘it’s time to move on’ from Trump.

Veteran GOP pollster Frank Luntz said on Thursday that a recent New Hampshire poll showing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) narrowly edging out former President Trump indicates Republicans are saying “it’s time to move on” from Trump.

Yeah, whatever you say Hair Hat.

Frank Luntzhead, "Republican Pollster." The same tubby, jowly, roadkill-haired "expert" who said, in 2016, without a doubt, that "Hillary Clinton will be the next President of the United States."

The same Hair Hat who declared, Bernie Sanders will be the democrat presidential candidate in 2020.

Biden’s Net Approval Rating Is Underwater in 40 States.

Morning Consult: Biden’s Net Approval Rating Is Underwater in 40 States.

The president has made up no ground in states that’ll be key to Democrats’ chances in 2022 and 2024.

In most states, the pace of Biden’s decline slowed between the last quarter of 2021 and the first quarter of 2022, but he’s still deep in the red.

Biden’s net approval rating fell by 38 points among independents in Michigan, along with 33-point declines with the group in Georgia and Minnesota.

More than half of Democratic voters “strongly” approve of Biden’s performance in just one state — Wyoming — compared to 47 states in the first quarter of 2021.
[.]
According to Morning Consult Political Intelligence quarterly tracking in all 50 states, more voters now disapprove than approve of Biden’s job performance in 40 states, following double-digit declines in his net approval rating[.]
[.]
Biden is underwater by double digits in 33 states, from conservative enclaves such as West Virginia and Wyoming, to battlegrounds that were pivotal to his 2020 victory, such as Arizona, Pennsylvania and Georgia.

1 in 4 Americans says they would refuse COVID-19 vaccine, poll says

WFTS ABC Tampa Bay: 1 in 4 Americans says they would refuse COVID-19 vaccine.
[According to a new ABC News/Ipsos released Friday]...Those Americans who are opposed to getting a vaccine, experts say, often fall into one of two categories. But, unlike most things in American politics and concerning the coronavirus outbreak, those groups are not partisan in nature, with about equal proportions of Democrats and Republicans saying they were likely to get the vaccine.

"There's always been an anti-vaccine group of individuals that are going to refuse vaccines no matter what," said Dr. Carlos del Rio, an infectious disease expert, and a professor of medicine, epidemiology and global health at Emory University. "The question is, how do they impact other people."
Not that I put faith in polls...just taking note of the Covid-19  anti-Vax crowd. Add me as skeptical and declining it as well. Would you get vaccinated for Covid-19?

Amy Klobuchar's Iowa SURGE!

Try to contain your glee, Toots!

...former Iowa Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal [...] sitting in the kitchen while Klobuchar met with supporters in the living room, [said] of her, “The surge is real.”
[.]
Klobuchar is polling at about 6 percent in Iowa and lower nationally. And this is not her first time catching a spark.
A spark at 6 percent? Can her rivals survive that degree of scorching heat?

Joe Biden up 11 points in polls by not being in tonight's debate.

An immediate polling of the 2020 Democrat Presidential candidate's debate tonight showed that by not being in the debate, Joe Biden's polling numbers went up 11 percent. Due to the number of primary candidates, Biden is scheduled for Wednesday night's debate.

The Van Cleef-Peckinpah Polling firm, based in Armister, Maryland, polled a group of 3,146 random potential voters for the 2020 election. The group included all party affiliations, ages 18-54, and they were polled by cell phones, landlines, texting, other electronic methods and by personal, in-home sauna visits. The results had Biden up by 11% over all other Democrat rivals and over President Donald Trump.

"This is an impressive move for Biden," said Freyler Macintosh, Executive Vice President of Van Cleef-Peckinpah. He indicated Biden could perhaps double his lead by not appearing in Wednesday night's candidate debate.

Reached by phone, the news agency Tass reported that when asked about the new poll developments, Biden replied, "Is this good news then? Right?"

Biden's campaign team is continuing to analyze this polling data and if Biden can maintain and continue this upward trend.
