Marijuana Breathalyzer Technology.

Sates legalize, sell and tax pot. Then states get more revenue from arresting you for driving under the influence. See how it works?

A federal agency this spring will convene government officials, forensics experts, academics, industry representatives, law enforcement and standards organizations for what it describes as “an open and candid discussion” about “the path forward to realize meaningful cannabis breathalyzer technology and implementation.”

The two-day event, hosted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which is part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, is scheduled to be held in Boulder, Colorado, on April 16 and 17.
[.]
Unlike with alcohol, there’s currently no widely accepted field test to determine whether someone is under the influence of marijuana.

In 2023, a federally funded report by researchers at NIST and the University of Colorado Boulder concluded that evidence does “not support the idea that detecting THC in breath as a single measurement could reliably indicate recent cannabis use.”

“A lot more research is needed to show that a cannabis breathalyzer can produce useful results,” Kavita Jeerage, a NIST materials research engineer and co-author of the report, said at the time. “A breathalyzer test can have a huge impact on a person’s life, so people should have confidence that the results are accurate.”

More recently, a U.S. Department of Justice researcher cast doubt on whether a person’s THC levels are even a reliable indicator of impairment.

States may need to “get away from that idea,” Frances Scott, a physical scientist at the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) Office of Investigative and Forensic Sciences under DOJ, said on a podcast early last year.

Scott questioned the efficacy of setting “per se” THC limits for driving that some states have enacted, making it so a person can be charged with driving while impaired based on the concentration of cannabis components in their system. Ultimately, there may not be a way to assess impairment from THC like we do for alcohol, she said.

One complication is that “if you have chronic users versus infrequent users, they have very different concentrations correlated to different effects,” Scott said. “So the same effect level, if you will, will be correlated with a very different concentration of THC in the blood of a chronic user versus an infrequent user.”

That issue was also examined in a federally funded study last year that identified two different methods of more accurately testing for recent THC use that accounts for the fact that metabolites of the cannabinoid can stay present in a person’s system for weeks or months after consumption.

[.]
“The consensus is that there is no linear relationship of blood THC to driving,” [a study preprint posted on The Lancet by an eight-author team representing Canada’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Health Canada and Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia identified and assessed a dozen peer-reviewed studies concluded]. “This is surprising given that blood THC is used to detect cannabis-impaired driving.”

Most states where cannabis is legal measure THC intoxication by whether or not someone’s blood THC levels are below a certain cutoff. The study’s findings suggest that relying on blood levels alone may not accurately reflect whether someone’s driving is impaired.

Of the 12 papers included in the present review,” authors wrote, “ten found no correlation between blood THC and any measure of driving, including [standard deviation of lateral position (SDLP)], speed, car following, reaction time, or overall driving performance.
[.]
Evan [sic] as far back as 2015, a U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) concluded that it’s “difficult to establish a relationship between a person’s THC blood or plasma concentration and performance impairing effects,” adding that “it is inadvisable to try and predict effects based on blood THC concentrations alone.”

In a separate report last year, NHTSA said there’s “relatively little research” backing the idea that THC concentration in the blood can be used to determine impairment, again calling into question laws in several states that set “per se” limits for cannabinoid metabolites.

Great Outdoorsman Tim Walz Can't Load His Shotgun.

Walz hits the wall; fast.

OOF! Out of the gate, Walz fails.

Walz said his son, Gus, witnessed a shooting. THREE SEARCHES (DDG, Bing, Yandex); ZERO RESULTS on Gus Walz witnessing a shooting. Another Tim Walz tale.

UPDATE, October 2, 2024:

I read news stories online today reporting that Tim Walz's son, Gus, was in the vicinity, but didn't view, a shooting. I was unable to locate a story about this event predating today, October 2, 2024. The  stories are dated today, after Walz made this claim in last night's VP debate.

Reasons given for this not being previously reported cite those involved when it happened were juveniles. This surprised me a bit because other incidents of this nature hit the news cycle regularly when juveniles are involved, their names just aren't released which is understandable.

The verdict I reached, for myself, is what Walz said is rather exaggerated considering he said his son, "witnessed." I don't recall Walz ever mentioning this before and, considering his pro-gun control stance (despite his rhetoric of being a supporter of 2A), it seems odd he never brought it up in the past during his pushes for "reducing crime." Which is the opposite of the usual Liberal Narrative of, "never let a crisis go to waste."

AP reports, the shooting happened outside of a St. Paul recreation center while his son was indoors.

NPR reports: Gus didn’t actually see the shooting itself, but he did witness the aftermath[.]

Not seeing or viewing something doesn't fit my definition of, "witnessing" something.

FWIW, make of it what you will, how Walz spins the story compared to how it happened.

As with many pols, especially Libs and their desire to exploit and bigly embellish their actual personal involvement in any story, take their tales with a grain of salt. And with Walz, make it an Industrial Size Grain of Salt, with extree Added Industrial Size Grain of Salt wrapped in a tablet of Industrial Size Grain of Salt.

Hey, Fat Ass Tim Walz...MN COVID and COVID wasterwater levels "very high."

Mankato Free Press: COVID-19 hospitalizations on rise during unseasonable time.

Minnesota currently has “very high” viral activity for COVID-19, according to public health data, causing hospitalizations from the illness to tick up both in area counties and statewide.

Data from the Minnesota Department of Health showed Blue Earth County had 13 COVID-19 hospitalizations during a four-week period ending on July 27. One year ago a similar date range showed only one such hospitalization.

South-central Minnesota’s nine counties overall had seven hospitalizations from the illness in July 2023 compared to 28 this July. Statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations during the same periods rose from 243 last year to 630 this year.

Although the numbers aren’t near peak COVID-19 pandemic levels, their timing stands out compared to past years.

If rising Covid hospitalizations are this big of a threat, then Fat Man Timmy should close the State Fair which starts August 22, but he won't. It's too big of a $$-maker for the democrat party. He'll use his "emergency powers" after the fair ends, just in time to lockdown the schools, the businesses and the entire state. "Trust the science," is what this rejected Muppet-faced Tardis will use an as excuse, just like he did in 2020.

This lying, run-away from the National Guard, drunk-driving, fat fuck who shot and killed his own dog while pheasant hunting - he was drunk...always a good idea; hunting drunk - is the worst governor, ever, of any state of all time.

His supporters are only the metropolitan areas (large cities with universities and schools which he and the MN dem party throws money at for votes) and the Iron Range and Arrowhead region. Why northern MN votes democrat in every election is a mystery.

A legend only in his own mind.

Fat, worthless, far above his "pay-grade" POS.

Harris' VP pick Tim Walz. A man without shame.

Alpha News (archived): Walz says anti-parent teacher is ‘welcome in Minnesota’.

Gov. Tim Walz said a Florida teacher who believes parents have no rights in the public education system is “welcome” in Minnesota.
[.]

[Florida teacher Jenna Barbee] is under investigation for violating Florida’s new law that bars teachers in Pre-K through eighth grade from instructing students on "sexual orientation and gender identity."

No matter the level of degeneracy or erasing parental rights, there is no low to which Walz won't sink to pander to the fringe, radical Left Wingnuts.

As an excuse during the "covid crisis", under the guise of "relieving phone calls to 911," Walz, using his "emergency powers act," initiated a "spy on and turn your neighbor in hotline" if too many people were gathering at your house or in your yard. ⏬

Post Bulletin (archived): Reports to 'stay at home' hotline flood in; Walz says it is needed to relieve 911 workers.

Minnesotans are nearly a week into a stay-at-home order aimed at limiting the spread of the coronavirus in Minnesota, and a hotline to report those congregating in large groups or failing to keep a sizable distance between themselves and others is generating hundreds of calls.
[.]
The hotline came under fire this week, and Republican lawmakers over social media and in news releases called on Gov. Tim Walz to take down the hotline and email address used to report suspected violations of the order.

HEY! POST BULLETIN! Why'd you scrub your original story on this? Thank God for Archive. I DL'd the story to HD as well.

Looks like yet another case of interweb scrubberitis going on with all unfavorable stories on this miserable LeftTard.

Twitchy: Walz ran away from the National Guard upon learning deployment to Iraq. Fellow NG doesn't look favorably upon him.

^ Walz also exaggerates blatantly LIES about his leadership and rank in the NG.

⏬ Hey DUI Tim, like the AC/DC song says, "Have a Drink On Me." ⏬

96 MPH in a 55 MPH Zone

Walz allowed Minneapolis to burn for three days. Some say, I'm not one of them, only what I hear from relatively reliable sources, that Walz's lack of action for three days is because he was too inebriated and incapacitated to reach a decision. Some say that - not me.

And he wasn't a High School Football "Coach." He was an "Assistant" Coach, not that there's anything wrong with that. But he can't even tell the truth about this.

Walz bullied MN Public Television into deleting embarrassing video of his wife, Gwen

And if you're a rural Minnesotan, according to Timmy, you're the land of rocks and cows (VIDEO).

Walz's "stay at home for two weeks," turned into three years of tyranny from him - a hellish experience - and his covid policies resulted in thousands of elder-care residents to die alone

Here's more to read about Crazy Timmy. It's a partial list. The unabridged versions of this guy's lies and pandering would consist of multiple volumes.

Awwwww, Harris-Walz supporters wore bracelets alerting them when to applaud. ⏬ ⏬ That's weird. 🤣  But far more saaaaaaaaaaad than weird.

Harris couldn't have picked a better VP who deserves all the skeletons in his closet to be again dragged out and paraded in pubic.

Tim Walz doesn't know when not to say something.

Minnesota's Tubby Tyrant, Tim "DUI" Walz

This Miserable Fat Fuck is one to talk.

- It's been long alleged (and there are people who know), years ago, while hunting and drunk, Walz shot and killed his own dog.

- As the leader of MN, (I refuse to call him "Governor"), into his second term, he's had at least two dogs (maybe more), each named "Scout" and no one know what happened to the prior "Scouts." There's never been two Scouts together, so where did the others go?

- His cat ran away from his residence, never to be found again. His cat got sick and tired of his shit and left. 🤣

- His premature exit from the MN NG in 2005 upon learning of deployment to Iraq. He ran away.

- His embellishment of his rank and accomplishments in the MN NG.

- Then there's his daughter, Hope, who once threatened to "beat-up" a MN State Senator. Hope also was tipping off the protesters, providing them inside info in advance of what law enforcement was planning, during the 2020 Minneapolis Summer of Love and Healing.

- It's alleged that his delay in activating the MN NG to counter the rioting and destruction in Minneapolis (and other areas) in 2020 is because he was too inebriated during the first three days of "civil unrest."

- Timmy bullied Twin Cities Public Television into deleting embarrassing video of his wife, Gwen. And TCPT happily obliged, squishy liberal worms they are.

- Here's Timmy's DUI; 96 in a 55 MPH:

How as a teacher, the most important lesson he taught is, "responsibility." (Ahem)...Nice Mug Shot DUI Tim!

- There are alleged claims that when asked to do a field sobriety test, Walz faked he had a hearing problem and couldn't understand the arresting officer's words. Yeah. Sure, Tim.

- Walz and his miserable democrat party have put MN in debt and continue spending. Businesses close, some relocate out of state, people retire and exit ASAP.

- Like Cuomo in New York, many elderly Minnesotans died alone because of his draconian covid restrictions in care homes or hospice.

- While running for reelection, he walked away and refused to answer a question from a voter and he calls rual MN the "land of rocks and cows."

- Running for his second term, Walz PROMISED tax rebates of $2,000 for families and $1,000 to individuals. After winning the election, with democrats the majority in the House and Senate, the amount was revised down to $520 for family and $260 to individuals. You see, the Minnesota Politburo needs the money more than you do.

This isn't anywhere a complete list of what a toady Walz is.

Sources for the allegations are easily searchable. Some are inside info, yet Walz has never denied them or has his family. They're all adult public figures, so short of defamation or libel (which none of this post contains), there's nothing they can do about it. I'll gladly strikeout any accusation that is proven demonstrably false. Good luck! The comment section is open.

While I wouldn't have done what Noem did, and I don't approve of what she did; Walz is the last person to throw stones at anyone else, on any issue.

Like other liberal states ruled by obese liberals, Minnesota is another Land of Fatmanistan.

Time for another "Florida Man" story: Florida man charged with DUI after driving scooter into Walmart shelves.

NY Post: Florida man charged with DUI after driving scooter into Walmart shelves.

Aaron Gregory, 39, was charged with a DUI after running into shelves and nearly mowing down Walmart customers in Melbourne, Florida.

Don’t drink and scoot!

A Florida man was charged with DUI for allegedly zipping around on a motorized shopping cart while wasted in a Walmart, according to police.

Aaron Gregory, 39, swerved through the store in Melbourne, ran into shelves and nearly mowed down customers on Sunday, WFTL reported, citing cops.

When police were called to the store, Gregory was allegedly hauling an open bottle of Smirnoff vodka inside a backpack in the basket of the scooter.

He had “glassy eyes,” smelled like alcohol, and refused to take a breathalyzer test, police said.

The boozehound on wheels was arrested for DUI, disorderly intoxication and possession of an open container.

I dunno, I'm suspicious. This could be a case of mistaken identity and the scooter driver may indeed have been Paul Pelosi, Sr.

Paul Pelosi, besides being a drunk driver, is an exceptionally prescient stock investor.

Daily Caller: Nancy Pelosi’s Husband Buys Millions In Chip Stocks Right Before Vote On Massive Chip Subsidy.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul bought up to $5 million in stock of a computer chip company ahead of a vote on a bill next week that would hand billions in subsidies to boost chip manufacturing, a financial disclosure shows.

Paul Pelosi purchased 20,000 shares of Nvidia, one of the world’s largest semiconductor companies, on June 17, according to the speaker’s disclosure report released Thursday. Now, senators will convene as early as Tuesday to vote on a bipartisan competition bill, which allocates $52 billion to boost domestic semiconductor manufacturing and gives tax credits for production, Reuters reported Thursday.

“It certainly raises the specter that Paul Pelosi could have access to some insider legislative information,” Craig Holman, a government affairs lobbyist for the left-wing think tank Public Citizen, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “This is the reason why there is a stock trading app that exclusively monitors Paul’s trading activity and then its followers do likewise.”

He has the Magic "D" behind his name. Nothing will happen to him.

Paul Pelosi DUI mug shot drops! "Glassy-eyed."

Daily Mail: Glassy-eyed Paul Pelosi is finally seen in his MUGSHOT one month after DUI arrest despite Nancy's team trying to keep it under wraps.

Paul Pelosi, 82, was arrested last month for drunk driving after he drove his Porsche into the path of an oncoming Jeep.

DailyMail.com has obtained his mugshot taken after the DUI arrest.

The mugshot shows the husband of the Speaker of the House wearing a neat brown suit and collared shirt as he stares shame-faced.

Pelosi, who had a blood alcohol content of 0.08%, is scheduled to appear in court over the incident on August 3.
[.]
It's the photo they tried to hide, but DailyMail.com has obtained the mug shot of shame-faced Paul Pelosi after he was arrested on DUI charges last month.

Pelosi, 82, was collared by California Highway Patrol officers in Oakville, California, on May 28 after he blew through a stop sign in his 2021 Porsche and hit a Jeep.

The mugshot, which shows Pelosi wearing a neat brown suit and collared shirt, would have been taken shortly after the late-night incident.

Oh, if I was "on" Twitter, I'd be @CC'ing Nancy Pelosi's account with the mug shot of her boozer husband tweet after tweet after tweet...

Mother's Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is conspicuously silent on his arrest. There are zero results searching Paul Pelosi's name at MADD's site and he isn't mentioned in MADD's blog either.

That's because MADD gets a lot of money from liberal orgs, so they look the other way when a democrat is nailed for a DUI.

Trending Politics: Did Nancy Pelosi’s Husband, Who Once Killed Someone While Driving, Have DUI Charges Dropped?

“We called the jail. They told us to call the sheriff. Who told us to call the city council, and they gave us the runaround.

So we filed an official records request in writing and got this response:

‘The individual is not currently in custody in Napa County jail. Therefore the booking photos you have requested are exempt from disclosure. Because the records you seek are exempt from release we have closed your request.’”

Then, as reported by the U.K.’s Daily Mail, “[Nancy] Pelosi’s multi-millionaire husband Paul killed his 19-year-old brother when he lost control and flipped his sports car in early-morning ‘joyride’ when he was 16-years-old – 65 years before this weekend’s arrest for the drunk driving crash.”

The Daily Mail went on to note that a passenger riding shotgun, brother David Pelosi, “had urged him to slow down as he approached a tight curve on California’s Skyline Highway.”

Not heeding that advice, the spoiled, rich, and reckless Paul “lost control as he tried to slow down and his car bounced between embankments, somersaulted and landed upside down trapping both.”

Frank Talk by Diamond and Silk: Nancy Pelosi’s Husband, Who Once Killed Someone While Driving, Has DUI Charge Dropped.

Last weekend, Paul Pelosi was arrested and booked for driving past the legal limit. Yesterday, those charges were not-so-mysteriously dropped.

For the entire week, efforts were made to have the mugshot of Paul released. The drunk-driving husband of the House Speaker, and third in line to be president, is already a bad enough story (that has been conveniently ignored by the fascistic corporate press), but an actual image of his droopy, mean, bloodshot eyes would be an instant campaign meme for Republicans.

Snopes (no, I'm not linking to it), of course claims the DUI charges haven't been dropped. And we know that the truth is the opposite of whatever Snopes writes.

No, this isn't me.

KRTV 3 Great Falls: Mason David Drake charged with the deaths of 2 women in July crash.
MISSOULA — Mason David Drake of Minnesota, who is accused of killing a Kalispell mother and daughter in a car crash on July 4, is now in jail.

Flathead County jail records show Drake was taken into custody on Monday, October 21. Court documents obtained from Flathead County District Court show a warrant for arrest was issued for Drake on October 8.

The crash happened just before noon. on July 4th on Montana Highway 35 near Hooper’s Garden Center, northeast of Kalispell.

The Montana Highway Patrol reported at the time that a northbound Chevy Silverado driven by a 23-year-old man from Lanesboro, Minnesota, crossed over into the southbound lane and hit a Ford Ranger head-on. The two women in the Ford pick-up truck -- Alice Barten and Katie Barten -- died at the scene.

Court documents state that emergency personnel reported an overwhelming odor of an alcoholic beverage emanated from Drake, who was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center. The MHP obtained a blood sample at the hospital which was then sent to the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula for analysis. Testing at the crime lab indicated that Drake’s blood alcohol content was .136, higher than the .08 threshold for driving legally in Montana.

Drake is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide while under the influence.

We have contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to find out why Drake was not taken into custody after the crash and when he’s expected to make his first court appearance, but have not yet received a response.

Considering I haven't updated in a while, it was curious when I noticed an uptick in site traffic a few days ago. Then I ran across some searches on the above story that pointed to this blog because of the similar name. We don't know Mason Drake and as far as we can tell, are not related to his family. The above story is a tragedy. My heart goes out to the Bartens, their family and friends.

Wisconsin Judge Blows .129 Alcohol Breath Test; not charged. Legal limit: 0.08

KSTP News: Wisconsin judge not arrested; driving under the influence.
A Wisconsin judge, who had bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol, was not arrested for drinking and driving late last year despite failing a field sobriety test and blowing well over the legal limit, according to police video and records obtained by 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.

Judge Eric Lundell can be heard on police dash and body cameras asking for special treatment during the traffic stop in Hudson, Wisconsin.

"Where's the ol' police courtesy," he asked one of the officers.
[.]
...Lundell again asked for special treatment.

"Just give me one police courtesy one time in my whole career. If you want to ride with me home, fine. C'mon, Brad," he said, again addressing the sergeant by his first name.

Officer Luke Radke explained why the judge's request was problematic.

"I'm going to handle this like I would for anyone else," Radke said. "I understand you want some police courtesy right now, but if I get caught, or it gets released to the media that I didn't do my job because of who you are, my career is over."

The 71-year-old judge declined to perform at least one of the field sobriety tests, citing his age, but eventually agreed to stand on one leg – a test he failed.

At that point, Radke and Kusmirek agreed not to arrest Lundell.
[.]
However, the officers did ask the judge to take a breathalyzer with the understanding he would be allowed to drive home if he blew under a .04.

"Well, if you're not going to arrest me, then sure,"
Lundell said.

The judge then blew a .129. The officers allowed him to call for a ride home.
[.]
Hudson Police Chief Geoff Willems defended his officers' handling of the traffic stop, and said the judge was not given the police courtesy he requested.
[.]
"Anytime you have different officers, different experience levels, different training, you have a potential for a different outcome," he added.
WHAT?  "Anytime you have different officers, different experience levels, different training, you have a potential for a different outcome."

The judge blew a .129.

Wisconsin's BAC definitions:
"Per Se" BAC Limit     0.08 Percent
Zero Tolerance (Underage) BAC Limit     0.02 Percent
Enhanced Penalty (Aggravated) BAC Limit     0.15 Percent
Implied Consent to Submit to BAC Test?     Yes
0.08 versus .129. Yeah, the judge was granted special favor. The Police Chief and the officer need to be fired.

"Where's the ol' police courtesy" - Eric Lundell.
