Boycott Olympics Trending after Opening Ceremony.

I didn't watch the opening ceremonies for the Paris Olympics. Mostly, because it doesn't interest me. Now, the Winter Olympics? That's different! I'll take Winter over Summer Olympics every time. I understand that others may feel differently.

Last night I did read reactions online to the opening ceremony. If you saw it, or saw any coverage on it, you know what I'm talking about.

DHL's Indy 500 Pride car fails early.

One might say it petered, or bottomed, out early.

Yahoo: Romain Grosjean crashes out of Indy 500 for second straight season.

For the second time in as many years, Romain Grosjean’s Indianapolis 500 came to an early end.

Grosjean, in just his second attempt at the 500, was running in the 25th position when his car lost control at the exit of Turn 2 and slammed the outside wall.

The No. 28 DHL Honda then slid down the racetrack and came to a rest in the infield grass area. Grosjean climbed out of his car unhurt but, once again, his dreams of being an Indy 500 champion were dashed.

Brazilian football legend Pelé transferred to end-of-life care.

RT: Brazilian football legend Pele transferred to end-of-life care.

Former Brazilian football star Pele has been moved to end-of-life care due to chemotherapy treatment no longer having the expected results to treat him for colon cancer, according to a report.

The Folha de S. Paulo newspaper claims that chemotherapy treatment has now been suspended for the 82-year-old, who is widely viewed as the greatest footballer of all time.

Pele was admitted to hospital this week to re-evaluate his cancer treatment and was later diagnosed with a respiratory infection as confirmed by medical reports.

Britannica: Pelé.

Pelé, byname of Edson Arantes do Nascimento, (born October 23, 1940, Três Corações, Brazil), Brazilian football (soccer) player, in his time probably the most famous and possibly the best-paid athlete in the world.
[.]
Pelé made his international debut in 1957 at age 16 and the following year played his first game in the World Cup finals in Sweden. The Brazilian manager was initially hesitant to play his young star.

By all accounts from what I've read about him over the years, a truly genuine guy, no pretenses, God-fearing Christian who helped others without fanfare or expecting accolades.

How good was he? He IS The King of Soccer.

We will not see the likes of him again:

 UPDATE

PA Media (via Yahoo): Pele says he is ‘strong with a lot of hope’ amid health concerns.

Pele said he is “strong” and following his regular treatment in a social media post responding to concerning reports about his health.

Brazilian news outlet Folha claimed earlier on Saturday that the former striker had been moved to palliative care and that his chemotherapy to treat colon cancer had been suspended.

An update from the doctors treating Pele at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in Sao Paulo on Saturday evening presented a more positive picture, and a message was then posted on his Instagram page.

My friends, I want to keep everyone calm and positive,” it read. “I’m strong, with a lot of hope and I follow my treatment as usual. I want to thank the entire medical and nursing team for all the care I have received.

I have a lot of faith in God and every message of love I receive from you all over the world keeps me full of energy. And watch Brazil in the World Cup too! Thank you so much for everything.”

Pele has been in hospital since Tuesday, and his doctors said in a statement that he was stable and responding well to treatment.

We're with you, Pelé! 👍 🙏

"And watch Brazil in the World Cup too!" 🤣 What a great guy!

Pro biker Rab Wardell dead at 37, two days after winning championship.

NY Post: Pro biker Rab Wardell dead at 37, two days after winning championship.

Pro bike rider Rab Wardell died on Tuesday, just two days after he won the MTB XC Championships in Scotland. He was 37.

Scottish Cycling confirmed the news and stated there is “little information” at this time.

We ask that you respect Rab’s family’s privacy at this incredibly sad time,” the group said.

Wardell’s girlfriend, Olympic cycling medalist Katie Archibald, said Wardell went into cardiac arrest while the two were lying in bed together.

I didn't find any info in searches regarding the vaccination policies at USA Cycling, MTB XC or if Mr. Wardell was vaxxed or not. All we know right now is that this is another Sudden Adult Death (Cardiac-related), in what appears to be young and healthy athletes.

Wiki: Ferguson's professional career.

Ferguson was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the third round (85th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft.[10] On July 19, 2019, Ferguson was placed on the reserve/NFI list with a hamstring injury.[11] He was removed two days later.[12] On September 22, 2019, Ferguson made his NFL debut, recording 18 snaps against the Kansas City Chiefs.[13] He recorded his first-career tackle two weeks later against the Pittsburgh Steelers.[14] He made his first NFL start on November 3 against the New England Patriots.[15] On November 17, Ferguson recorded his first-career sack against the Houston Texans, bringing down Deshaun Watson in the second quarter.[16] Three weeks later, he would record his second sack against the Buffalo Bills, sacking Josh Allen.[17]

In Week 4 of the 2020 season against the Washington Football Team, Ferguson recorded his first sack of the season on Dwayne Haskins during the 31–17 win.[18] Ferguson was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list by the Ravens on November 28, 2020,[19] and activated two days later.[20]

25-year old professional athletes die all the time. Caleb Swanigan, dead at 25.

The Liberty Daily: Former NBA Player Caleb Swanigan Dies of “Natural Causes” at 25.

Have the Covid jabs claimed the life of another young and healthy athlete? We’ll never be told one way or another, as is always the case, following the death of Caleb Swanigan at the age of 25.

According to ESPN:

Former NBA player and Purdue Boilermakers standout Caleb Swanigan has died. He was 25.

Swanigan died Monday night, with the Allen County coroner’s office saying he died of natural causes at a Fort Wayne, Indiana, hospital.

Whether it’s “cause of death is unknown” or “died of natural causes,” the accumulation of surprising deaths of young people, particularly athletes, has Covid-19 vaccine skeptics very concerned. We should be, considering this continues to happen over and over again without official explanation.

The best they’ve come up with so far is “Sudden Adult Death Syndrome” which many in the anti-vaxx world believe is just a way to lump all of the vaccine-induced deaths together without acknowledging what they are. This has become far too common, yet the nobody in corporate media is asking the question and only a handful in alternative media dare say “adverse reaction” for fear of being canceled by Google or Facebook.

Willamette Week: The Portland Trail Blazers Are 100% Vaccinated.

Unfortunately, the rest of the NBA did not demonstrate the same dedication to public health as the Blazers.

Good news! Your favorite basketball team apparently won’t feature any anti-vaccination zealots this season.

Portland Trail Blazers president of basketball operations Neil Olshey confirmed at the team’s annual media day Sept. 27 that the entire roster and basketball operations staff have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Tiger Woods quits PGA tournament after the worst round of his career.

The New Daily: Tiger Woods quits PGA tournament after the worst round of his career.

A hobbling Tiger Woods had withdrawn from the the US PGA Championship after a career-worst 79 in the third round at Tulsa’s Southern Hills course.

In obvious pain, Woods limped his way around in the cold and wind, at one point making five straight bogeys.

It was the first time Woods has withdrawn from a major as a professional.

He declined interviews after his round, speaking only to a pool reporter.

Woods was asked if he felt as though he would play the final round. All he said was he was sore, he would do some work and see how it went.

Woods has made the cut in the two majors he has played since his right leg was shattered in a car crash 15 months ago.

He must have a decent degree of chronic pain from the accidents he's been in,  yet to a large degree rebounded back. I've always liked him and marvel at his golf game. He's been written off a couple of times in the past by "experts" who said he'll never play golf again.

He hasn't used up all Nine Lives of his career...at least I don't think so. Heal, practice and he'll be back.

Vaxxed and Boosted Red Sox manager Alex Cora has Covid.

UPI (via Archive): Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora tests positive for COVID-19.

April 21 (UPI) -- Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss the team's upcoming three-game road trip against the Tampa Bay Rays that begins Friday.

Cora, who is vaccinated and boosted, has been dealing with mild COVID-19 symptoms, according to the team. He had been living in a hotel room for the past week after one of his children tested positive for the coronavirus.
[.]
Cora's positive test is the latest in a string of COVID-related absences for the Red Sox in recent days.

Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez and infielder Jonathan Arauz were placed on the COVID-19 injured list Tuesday, joining catcher Kevin Plawecki, who was added to the list Monday.

Social Distance Boating in Minneapolis during Covid-19.

Bring Me The News: How does social distancing work on a boat? Hennepin County has advice.
Only boat with those in your immediate household.

Do not invite guests onto your boat. This includes family members not in your immediate household and your favorite fishing buddies. (I've always found the best fishing trips were those with strangers who later turned out being serial killers. I didn't know at the time. - DD)

Go right from your house to the boat and back, avoiding all unnecessary contact with anyone during your trip. (WTF is this, "TWD"? -DD)

Do not use a beach, boat ramp or marina that is closed. (Now where's the fun in that? - DD)
[.]
It was announced earlier this week that the State of Minnesota was loosening the requirements for its Stay at Home order so that more people in the leisure boating industry would be able to return to work. (It's okay for a group of strangers to hop onto a commercial, leisure boat but not okay for non-family members to join you on your personal boat? Hey, this makes perfect sense, I mean, we're talking about procedures created by Minnesota bureaucrats.- DD)
Run! RUN! Run from your vehicle or door to your boat, and the other way around. Don't look behind you. Just run! RUN! Keep moving! Faster! Just RUN! RUN-FUCKING-RUN!!

My First NHL 2019-2020 Season post.

In past years, I would have written something back in late September 2019 during NHL pre-season. Except for Sportnet's firing of Don Cherry in November 2019, I haven't written a word about the 2019-2020 NHL season. What took so long? Many of the teams I like aren't playing well. Some of the teams that are playing well - some of which I used to like - I now want to see them crushed.

Unless magic happens, (as it did for The Blues last season), currently the MN Wild aren't playing in the manner that brings home The Stanley Cup. We'll see if the Wild can shake off the bad juju and turn their game around over the next few months.

It's overdue, by a few seasons, that NHL Commish Bettman needs to go. He's held the position since 19fucking93. He did some good, some not-so-good. Step aside, Gary.

Related - Toronto Sun (December 2019): Hockey Night In Canada ratings fall after firing of Don Cherry. Only Sportnet and HNIC didn't see this coming.

Happy Hockey!

Greta Thunberg called a "Whore" on Facebook post by a soccer coach. He was fired.

Italian Serie D club Grosseto has fired youth coach Tommaso Casalini after a Facebook rant that labeled teenage eco-activist Greta Thunberg a “wh**e,” and added further offensive remarks that prompted the club to dismiss him.

The 16-year-old Swedish eco-warrior garnered global attention after her emotional speech at the United Nations in which she accused international leaders and politicians of “stealing her childhood.”
[.]
Italian coach Casalini decided to weigh in on the issue by calling the Swedish activist a “wh**e,” in a Facebook post and seemed to defend his attack on her by saying that as a 16-year-old, she was “at the right age.”

"Right here, right now is where we draw the line. The world is waking up - and change is coming."

    — United Nations (@UN) September 24, 2019

“This wh**e! [sic] A 16-year-old can take a pounding, she’s at the right age,” he wrote on Facebook.

The club immediately reacted to Casalini’s social media post, announcing that they had parted ways with him as he was not “acting in line with the club, who focus on moral values even more than technical values.”

Casalini later issued an apology, admitting that the offensive post was written in an outburst of anger.

I’d like to publicly apologise to everyone, starting with Greta Thunberg, for the post I wrote on Facebook last week. It was an outburst written in a moment of anger against the young Swedish activist with absolutely the wrong language and content I regret,” he said.

Megan Rapinoe imagines butthurt.

...Rapinoe said she stands by her White House comments and still has no intention of celebrating the USA's championship with President Donald Trump because of his message that "excludes a lot of people."
