Billions spent in days by U.S.; Iran War Costs.

MSN: Trump administration estimates Iran war cost at over $11 billion in six days, source says

AP/Reuters: Pentagon says first week of Iran war cost the US $11.3 billion

As a rule of thumb, when I hear the government (fed, state, local) giving us a cost estimate; I immediately double the amount. A bit later I triple it.

"PRINT THAT FIAT!"

"Don't forget the usury!"

Embezzler runs away.

To Guess Where? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

T of I: Zelensky associate at crux of Ukrainian corruption case said to have fled to Israel

Legal proceedings expected to take place in absentia against entertainment tycoon Timur Mindich, who is accused of masterminding $100-million embezzlement plot at state companies.

Mindich has reportedly fled to Israel amid a probe of his growing influence within the country’s lucrative industries, and fears that his access was facilitated by his ties to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The two were once business partners, and Mindich’s influence had expanded since Zelensky was elected in 2019.

[.]

[...] the mastermind behind a $100 million embezzlement scheme involving top officials and Ukraine’s state nuclear power company.

[.]

Mindich, 46, was born in the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro. A 2013 Dnipro Jewish Community birthday message to his mother Stella identified her as a member of the community’s board of trustees and an activist in its women’s movement. According to BBC Ukrainian, his father Mykhailo died in Israel in 2006.

The outlet also reported Mindich got married in Israel in 2010, in a four-day event near the Western Wall in Jerusalem with some 500 guests. [

A "FOUR DAY wedding event."  Was it similar to a Diddy Freak Off? 🤣

Israel sure is the destination for those seeking to avoid prosecution and extradition.

Did you vote FOR this?

The IndependentTrump’s Gaza plan involves ‘voluntary’ relocation of Palestinians – and giving them $5,000 each

The Gaza Reconstitution, Economic Acceleration and Transformation Trust, otherwise known as the Great Trust, proposes that the 2 million people currently living in Gaza could be paid to be relocated to other countries or secure zones as part of a deal that would also see them receive subsidies to cover four years of rent and a year’s worth of food, The Washington Post reports.

[.]

The Great Trust blueprint was reportedly drawn up in April by the Boston Consulting Group, run by Israeli-American businessman Michael Eisenberg and Liran Tancman, a former Israeli military intelligence officer, who claim to have taken inspiration from Georges-Eugene Haussmann’s redesign of Paris in the 19th century.

[.]

“It’s been an unlucky place for a long time,” Trump said in February. “Being in its presence just has not been good, and it should not go through a process of rebuilding and occupation by the same people that have really stood there and fought for it and lived there and died there and lived a miserable existence there.

Everybody I've spoken to loves the idea of the United States owning that piece of land, developing and creating thousands of jobs with something that will be magnificent – in a really magnificent area.”

This idea is stupid, dumber than Alligator Alcatraz, a complete waste of time, energy, resources, manpower and money.

Remember MAGA Bros, U.S. Taxpayers will pay for this $5,000 "relocation" incentive AND the full cost of rebuilding Gaza. Israel won't be paying or contributing anything. They only know how to destroy what's not theirs.

"...[Gazaan unlucky place for a long time." Has it, Donald? And why is that?

“Everybody I've spoken to loves the idea of the United States owning that piece of land[.]"  Translation: Trump does whatever Satanyahu tells him to do.

US House passes $95 billion Ukraine, Israel aid package and TikTok ban.

Goes to Senate where the UniParty will slobber all over it, drooling anxiously to vote "YES!"

Aren't there any options a handful of Republicans can do to kill this bill? When Democrats are the minority, they manage to pull-out ancient procedural BS to kill, delay or reduce bills by the Republicans.

Zero Hedge: House Passes $95 Billion Aid Package For Ukraine, Israel And Taiwan - But Not US Border.

In total, the foreign assistance package totals $95 billion - which only passed after Speaker Mike Johnson cut a deal with Democrats in order to force it through by a vote of 311 to 112.

Breitbart: Betrayal Complete: Mike Johnson Passes $61 Billion Ukraine Aid, Violates Hastert Rule Again.

Breitbart: Ukraine’s Zelensky ‘Personally’ Thanks Mike Johnson for $61 Billion Gift from U.S. Taxpayers.

"Gift..."

NPR: House approves sell-or-be-banned TikTok measure, attaching it to foreign aid bill

100 Percent Fed Up: Tucker Carlson: “Weak people just become a host for evil… And that’s exactly what’s happening to Mike Johnson.”

Whoever made this meme did a great job. Wish they would've included McCarthy unzipping from Pelosi. There's no difference in them.

This video is, purportedly, what current (recent) life is like in war torn Ukraine.

HAPPY TAX DAY!

IF you're writing a check to Uncle Sam or to your state today, remember that thousands of illegals - many who may dislike you a lot - along with liberals, the UniParty, rinos, Neocons, many foreign governments - especially Ukraine and Israel - Bill Gates, Klaus, Soros, the Rothschilds, Big Pharma, the Globalist Industrial Complex, Blackrock, Raytheon and the rest of the Military Industrial Complex (MIC) really appreciate you working hard so they can continue their grift and schemes that depend on our/your money. Their "Thank You" card is in the mail.

Ontario must pay for a penis-sparing vaginoplasty for a person who identifies as neither fully female nor fully male.

National Post: Ontario resident who wants both a vagina and penis wins public funding for unique surgery.

Ontario has been ordered to pay for surgery for a resident who is seeking to have a vagina constructed while leaving their penis intact.

Denying the procedure would infringe on the person’s Charter-protected right to security of the person, an Ontario court said in its ruling.
[.]
The Ontario resident, identified in court documents as K.S., has been locked in a legal battle with the Ontario Health Insurance Plan since 2022, when OHIP denied a funding request to have a penile preserving vaginoplasty performed at a clinic in Austin, Texas.

The surgery, which is not available anywhere in Canada, involves creating a vaginal canal, or opening, without removing the penis.

I can't believe taxpayers are paying for this.

Janet Yellen says American "splurging" is the reason for high inflation.

Oh, it's our fault now, Janet? Talk about gaslighting in extremis.

FOX News: Janet Yellen blames Americans' 'splurging' for record-high inflation.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen blamed consumers' excessive spending habits as a primary cause for the near 40-year-high in inflation on Wednesday.

The Biden official appeared on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," where she was asked about the price increases that have plagued the U.S. for more than a year.
[.]
Yellen argued the administration managed the COVID-19 pandemic so well that consumers felt comfortable to "splurge" on goods.
[.]
Instead, people spent more money on "grills," "technology" and office equipment as they were working from home.

"They were in their homes for a year or more, they wanted to buy grills and office furniture, they were working from home, they suddenly started splurging on goods, buying technology," she claimed, which led to supply chain "bottlenecks."

Later in the interview, Yellen also blamed Russia for the increase in food and gas prices.

Dems propose raising taxes and spending a day before the country is officially in a recession. Manchin on board.

Twitchy: Dems propose raising taxes and spending a day before the country is officially in a recession.

The GDP numbers are due Thursday, and they’re going to show the U.S. economy contracting over two consecutive quarters … in other words, a recession. Don’t worry, though: Sens. Chuck Schumer and Joe Manchin have reached a deal on something called … get this … the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.

We must be honest about the economic reality America now faces. That's why I'm proud to support the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, which will address record inflation by paying down our national debt, and by lowering energy & healthcare costs. MORE: https://t.co/oPZF1gilEh

    — Senator Joe Manchin (@Sen_JoeManchin) July 27, 2022

Lol imagine calling for new taxes the day before we find out we're officially in a recession.

    Insane. https://t.co/FFvvY7jKBQ

    — Matt Whitlock (@mattdizwhitlock) July 27, 2022

Amazing that Dems are proposing raising taxes and spending (what else?) a couple of days before we're likely to hear that we're in a recession. https://t.co/V0ccNFgbuz

    — David Harsanyi (@davidharsanyi) July 27, 2022

These are all long-time Dem agenda items that have absolutely nothing to do with inflation. And throwing another $369B into the economy will not only undercut reliable energy production it's basically asking for more trouble.

    — David Harsanyi (@davidharsanyi) July 27, 2022

Only Democrats would, as inflation hits 40-year-highs, propose a massive tax increase on businesses (that will proceed to raise their prices) so they can fund $800 billion of new spending on green energy grift and call it the "Inflation Reduction Act."

    — Greg Price (@greg_price11) July 27, 2022

This will drive USA towards being Venezuela or Sri Lanka by the end of Bidens term….

    — BarbReilly (@BarbReilly7) July 27, 2022

Yep, in typical, unexpected treasonous Democrat Manchin bowed to his Master, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schebrew.

Anyone expecting a different outcome was either not paying attention or blinded by their unrepentant adoration of...ugh...The Amish.

Wind Turbine Blades Dumped In Landfills: 50,000 Tons Of Non-Recyclable Toxic Garbage.

Funny, no one seemed to consider what to do with the massive amount of wind turbine blades once they reached the end of their lifespan.  Thus, the irony of the present-day Green Energy Movement is the dumping of thousands of tons of “non-recyclable” supposedly renewable wind turbine blades in the country’s landfills.

Who would have thought? What’s even worse, is that the amount of wind turbine blades slated for waste disposal is forecasted to quadruple over the next fifteen years as a great deal more blades reach their 15-20 year lifespan.
[.]
Hundreds of giant windmill blades are being shipped to a landfill in Wyoming to be buried because they simply can’t be recycled.  Local media reports several wind farms in the state are sending over 900 un-reusable blades to the Casper Regional Landfill to be buried. While nearly 90 percent of old or decommissioned wind turbines, like the motor housing, can be refurbished or at least crushed, fiberglass windmill blades present a problem due to their size and strength.
[.]
Wyoming isn’t the only landfill accepting worn-out wind turbine blades. They are also being dumped in IOWA and SOUTH DAKOTA [sic].
[.]
The wind turbine blades are a toxic amalgam of unique composites, fiberglass, epoxy, polyvinyl chloride foam, polyethylene terephthalate foam, balsa wood, and polyurethane coatings.
We won't ever have to worry about these toxins seeping into water supplies because that could never happen.

Raise the New York beer tax, suggests Brooklyn DEM Harvey Epstein.

It may be one of the few taxes in which New York state’s bite doesn’t rank among the nation’s highest.

Now, some New York City lawmakers want to more than double the state’s beer excise tax to provide more money for the State University of New York system.

The excise tax, paid by beer distributors, is currently 14 cents per gallon. Bills introduced ahead of the upcoming State Legislature session would raise that to 30 cents per gallon (that matches the state’s current excise tax on wine).
[.]
The Assembly sponsor of the bill, Brooklyn Democrat Harvey Epstein, estimates the increased beer tax would boost the state’s revenues from about $45 million to $96 million per year.
[.]
[Said Paul Leone, executive director of the New York State Brewers Association], “It doesn’t make sense to increase the tax on a successful industry that is still growing to support another." [...] “This tax on business will absolutely cost jobs and slow the industry,” he said.
Harvey's Web site. You can contact him there AND join his email list (...and who wouldn't want to hear from Harvey on a regular basis?) I'm sure his email newsletters make for fascinating reading.

Bernie Sanders wants government-owned broadband.

We've long noted how community broadband networks are often an organic response to the expensive, slow, or just-plain unavailable service that's the direct product of a broken telecom market and regulatory capture. While you'll occasionally see some deployment duds if the business models aren't well crafted, studies have shown such local networks (there are 750 and counting now in the States) offer cheaper, faster service than many incumbents. Chattanooga's EPB, for example, was rated the best ISP in America last year by Consumer Reports.
[.]
Enter Bernie Sanders, whose new broadband plan was released last week and appears to have been cobbled together from the collected nightmares of AT&T, Verizon, and Comcast executives. The plan would not only restore the FCC's net neutrality authority and the agency's authority over ISPs in general, but it would restore the FCC's broadband privacy rules scuttled in 2017 by telecom lobbyists. It would also ban arbitrary and unnecessary broadband usage caps and overage fees, and ban the sneaky fees ISPs use to covertly jack up the advertised price post sale.

But the plan takes some extra time to highlight how a Sanders administration would embrace community broadband, including the elimination of protectionist state laws, and the doling out of $150 billion to be used largely toward building alternatives to the private sector telecom status quo:

"Municipalities across the country running their own internet services have proved they can deliver high-quality service at a fraction of the price of established monopolies. Cities can run their own networks just like a water or electric utility or build out an open access network to allow multiple providers to compete on price and service, rather than one or two conglomerates gouging customers and setting their own prices. Bernie believes it’s time to stop relying on profit-focused corporations to get to universal broadband. Bernie will provide the necessary funding for states, cities, and co-ops to build out their own broadband networks, and ensure all households are connected by the end of his first term."

Needless to say, the telecom sector isn't going to much like any of this.
[.]
The proposal isn't without its problems. Several economists versed in telecom and media tell me that the proposals to retroactively break up giants like Comcast NBC Universal and AT&T Time Warner are little more than pipe dreams that would be logistical nightmares in actual practice. And the Sanders camp also oddly opposes so-called "one touch make ready" rules (which allow any qualified third party to move pole equipment instead of just incumbent ISPs) despite widespread support of such proposals (unions tell me "one touch" poses a safety and security risk, but those claims are hotly contested).
Is there any private industry that this rapidly aging, anti-Charity, rape-porn fantasy writing Communist doesn't think the government should own, run and operate?

And Big Tech likes to think Liberals are their friends and allies.

Vacationing Chicago Mayor asks legislature for power to tax high-end professional services and big-ticket home sales.

Chicago Sun Times: Mayor Lightfoot to ask legislature for power to tax high-end professional services and big-ticket home sales.
[Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot will ask the legislature] to help Chicago dig out of a $1 billion hole — by empowering the city to tax high-end professional services and raise the transfer tax on big-ticket home sales, City Hall sources said Monday.

The vacationing mayor plans to make those requests during a fall veto session, when she also will seek a Chicago-only casino gambling fix.
[.]
Lightfoot wants state authorization to tax high-end professional services and raise the real estate transfer tax on the sale of $1 million-plus homes. The mayor once earmarked that tax for homeless services and affordable housing.

Sources said the mayor is prepared to portray those two local taxes as the only alternative to a dreaded property tax increase she wants desperately to avoid after former Mayor Rahm Emanuel doubled the city’s levy.
[.]
[House Minority Leader Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs) said], "I just don’t see my caucus embracing either of those two concepts[".]
[.]
Kristen Cabanban, a spokesperson for the city’s Office of Budget and Management, had no immediate comment on the mayor’s impending request.
