Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, feelz marginalized by tweets and social media.

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman said Tuesday during his testimony in front of the House Intelligence Committee that he feels “marginalized” by attacks in the media and on Twitter.

Vindman testified in an open hearing Tuesday as part of the House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump. At one point during the hearing, Ranking Member Devin Nunes mistakenly referred to Vindman as “Mr. Vindman” rather than “Lt. Col. Vindman,” causing Vindman to correct him.

Republican Utah Rep. Chris Stewart, an Air Force veteran, later questioned Vindman as to why he felt the need to correct a congressman for not addressing him by his proper military rank.

Do you always insist on civilians calling you by your rank?” Stewart asked.

“Representative Stewart, I’m in uniform wearing my military rank. I just thought it was appropriate to stick with that,” Vindman started. “The attacks that I’ve had in the press and Twitter have kind of eliminated the fact that — either marginalized me as a military officer or — ”

Stewart interjected that Nunes did not mean to disrespect him by not addressing him by his rank, and Vindman agreed.
Video via al-Reuters, ...that's "LIEUTENANT COLONEL", not 'Mister':

Washington Examiner: Vindman plays The Soldier Card in wearing uniform.
Army Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman chose to wear his military uniform while testifying before the House impeachment proceedings last month, sources said, prompting speculation about his reasons.

"He had a choice of what to wear, and I think he wore the uniform because it lends credibility to what he is saying as an officer," Alex Plitsas, a former Pentagon official, told the Washington Examiner.

An active-duty Army officer said: "Most of us in the military don't have that option of uniform or civvies. Vindman absolutely had a choice, and he ran with it."
[.]
It’s hard to get much respect like when you’re walking around the White House in a lieutenant colonel uniform,” retired Lt. Gen. Thomas Spoehr told the Washington Examiner. “So that’s why they generally want these guys to wear a coat and tie, because who knows how important this dude is. If you’re running a meeting, it’s hard to get respect as a lieutenant colonel, but if you’re in a coat and tie, nobody knows who the heck you are.”
Speculation why he wore the uniform? Ummmmmm...along the same reasons DEM John Kerry, (who served in Vietnam), reported for duty and why DEM Mikey Dukakis rode in a tank. It makes for good draahma.

Jordan Schachtel @ Twitter:

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman admitted that he had been offered to serve as minister of defense for Ukraine.

Vindman, 44, explained during his impeachment testimony that he had been offered the position three times but declined the position because of his loyalty to the United States. The lieutenant colonel was born in Ukraine, but his family immigrated to the U.S. when he was a toddler.

Vindman claimed he did not know why he was offered the high ranking position of defense minister.

Every single time, I dismissed it. Upon returning, I notified my chain of command and the appropriate counterintelligence folks about the offer,” said Vindman, later adding, “I think it would be a great honor, and frankly, I’m aware of service members that have left service to help nurture the developing democracies in that part of the world.”
So while he turned down the offers of becoming Ukraine's Defense Minister, he wouldn't see a problem accepting the position. Now that's...interesting.

Hey, thanks to Irish and his blog list, I come here frequently for a little humor, and or mutual disgust for the liberal entity in this once great nation. The demand to be addressed by ones Official title, is not only a statement of arrogance, but also an admission of severe insecurity. I've know some professors in academia in my time like that. Assholes. I do a job that involves identifying marine invertebrates, and when one well tenured marine biology prof. heard I was doing this, he said that I was not qualified because he'd never heard of me before. Good grief.

Interesting that when discussing his "war injuries" he comments that he went back to work the next day.. Shades of John Kerry....

Sarthurk, Irish and Jeffery are great, I am indebted to them to be on their blogroll.

Vindman is the first time I've ever heard of an instance where someone in the military requested being addressed by their rank and objecting to be called "Mister". It does seem rather arrogant and petty.

Glad you stop by. I try to have some fun here.

Bunk. I heard that too....IED-related as I understand (??) but I didn't dig into the specific degree or severity of injuries. I have homework to do :)
Thanks for stopping by.

I've heard more than a few enlisted and officers comparing him to Frank Burns in MASH.

All I can say is that if twitter marginalizes you as an officer, your leadership ethos wasn't very sound to begin with. Not even a tithe of the slander Sherman endured and then decided to not give a shit about when it came to doing his duty.

Odysseus, I don't know how anyone can let twitter or social media marginalize them. It must be a new 'medical condition'.
I can't comment at your site (have you banned me from commenting ;) nice RedsDay today!

In Bomb shell report Lt. Col. Vindman accuses President Trump of being a mean ole meanie who says very hurtful things. Schifty skips his potty break to immediately throw a presser saying we got that mean ole meanie now.

Nope I haven't banned you from commenting. I'll see if I can find anything wrong on my end.

Molson, thanks for the kinds words on Cap'n Crunch.

Vindman sure is taking a lot of criticism, and he brought it all upon himself. He's got no one to blame other than the face in the mirror. I'm with ya there, as are many, and MANY in the Military also.
