Any POTUS has the option to retain, or dismiss, those classified as working "at the pleasure of the President."
The DEMS and media are hellbent on describing the relieving of duty of Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman (and his twin brother) and Gordon Sondland, as being "retaliated" against. The adjectives used by the anti-Trump crowd are selected for their negative impact. It's all a word game to them, adjectives likely shopped and tested by focus groups. No one questioned or complained about who Obama or Clinton FIRED and REPLACED.
For how long do you think you would keep your job if you didn't carry out the job specifications required - and asked and expected of you - from your boss or manager? How long would you remain employed at your company if you worked against the goals of the CEO or owner who signs your paycheck?
Vindman worked for the National Security Council. Vindman is a suspected "leaker". How long would you remain on the payroll if you were leaking proprietary company information or working against the interests of your employer?
Vindman, his twin brother and Sondland were relieved of their duty in a manner that is totally within the jurisprudence of the POTUS. Any POTUS. As Joe Biden says, "that's a fact, look it up."

Pelosi "stunned" by dismissal of LIEUTENANT COLONEL Pasty Face.
LIEUTENANT COLONEL!!! Alexander "Pasty Face" Vindman
Washington Examiner: Pelosi 'stunned' by White House firing of 'patriotic' Alexander Vindman.
Maybe Nancy can find some papers to rip up to vent her "stunned-ed-ness".House Speaker Nancy Pelosi responded to news that President Trump relieved impeachment witness Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman of his White House duties by saying that she was “stunned” to learn such a “patriotic person” had been fired.
“What a patriotic person,” Pelosi said. “This goes too far.”
Pelosi on WH removing Vindman from NSC:
I’m stunned by it. I’ll talk to my colleagues. They have concerns about (President Trump’s) interventions with the military.
Pelosi on Vindman:
What a patriotic person. This goes too far.

Vindman, a key figure in the House impeachment case against President Trump, was relieved of his White House duties, reassigned to the Army, and escorted out of the White House by security on Friday afternoon.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham praised the decision and told her viewers that “getting rid of radicals” is the right move.
"Get rid of the radicals undermining from within and replace them with people who believe in your agenda, Mr. President," Ingraham said on her show Friday night.
"Stunned." Pelosi must not have visited her home district of San Fran in a long time and seen the state of her streets and sidewalks.

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, feelz marginalized by tweets and social media.
Video via al-Reuters, ...that's "LIEUTENANT COLONEL", not 'Mister':Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman said Tuesday during his testimony in front of the House Intelligence Committee that he feels “marginalized” by attacks in the media and on Twitter.
Vindman testified in an open hearing Tuesday as part of the House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump. At one point during the hearing, Ranking Member Devin Nunes mistakenly referred to Vindman as “Mr. Vindman” rather than “Lt. Col. Vindman,” causing Vindman to correct him.
Republican Utah Rep. Chris Stewart, an Air Force veteran, later questioned Vindman as to why he felt the need to correct a congressman for not addressing him by his proper military rank.
“Do you always insist on civilians calling you by your rank?” Stewart asked.
“Representative Stewart, I’m in uniform wearing my military rank. I just thought it was appropriate to stick with that,” Vindman started. “The attacks that I’ve had in the press and Twitter have kind of eliminated the fact that — either marginalized me as a military officer or — ”
Stewart interjected that Nunes did not mean to disrespect him by not addressing him by his rank, and Vindman agreed.
Army Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman chose to wear his military uniform while testifying before the House impeachment proceedings last month, sources said, prompting speculation about his reasons.Speculation why he wore the uniform? Ummmmmm...along the same reasons DEM John Kerry, (who served in Vietnam), reported for duty and why DEM Mikey Dukakis rode in a tank. It makes for good draahma.
"He had a choice of what to wear, and I think he wore the uniform because it lends credibility to what he is saying as an officer," Alex Plitsas, a former Pentagon official, told the Washington Examiner.
An active-duty Army officer said: "Most of us in the military don't have that option of uniform or civvies. Vindman absolutely had a choice, and he ran with it."

“It’s hard to get much respect like when you’re walking around the White House in a lieutenant colonel uniform,” retired Lt. Gen. Thomas Spoehr told the Washington Examiner. “So that’s why they generally want these guys to wear a coat and tie, because who knows how important this dude is. If you’re running a meeting, it’s hard to get respect as a lieutenant colonel, but if you’re in a coat and tie, nobody knows who the heck you are.”

Washington Examiner: Vindman testifies he was offered Defense Minister of Ukraine:
So while he turned down the offers of becoming Ukraine's Defense Minister, he wouldn't see a problem accepting the position. Now that's...interesting.Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman admitted that he had been offered to serve as minister of defense for Ukraine.
Vindman, 44, explained during his impeachment testimony that he had been offered the position three times but declined the position because of his loyalty to the United States. The lieutenant colonel was born in Ukraine, but his family immigrated to the U.S. when he was a toddler.
Vindman claimed he did not know why he was offered the high ranking position of defense minister.
“Every single time, I dismissed it. Upon returning, I notified my chain of command and the appropriate counterintelligence folks about the offer,” said Vindman, later adding, “I think it would be a great honor, and frankly, I’m aware of service members that have left service to help nurture the developing democracies in that part of the world.”
