Yes, we are living longer. Life expectancy has increased six years since 1980, but that doesn’t mean that those six additional years add up to prime working years. It’s not like your physical clock rewinds and now a 65-year-old is as spry as a 59-year-old. For many, those additional six years are linger years, six more years of being really old, frail, and sickly. For many, 70 is not the new 60. Rather, 70 is still 70, but instead of dying at 79, you die at 85.

So is it really fair to increase the retirement age? We live 12 years longer today than we did in 1950 when the average retirement age was 66. Should the retirement age reflect that? Should we be required to work until we’re 78 years old?

I don’t think so.

Utah Republican Mitt Romney became the only Republican in Congress to defy Trump during the inquiry and trial, casting a vote to convict the president on the charge of abuse of power.

It's interesting that it was only last week that the JUNIOR Senator from Utah - (I read somewhere Romney hates being referred to as the JUNIOR Senator so let's all plan on using that when we write about him) - said he wanted the Senate to call witnesses because he felt there was more information needed. How quickly he decided today that he didn't need any additional info.

Mittens, you have some new friends with the DEMS. Likely the same as those who were palsy with John McCain.

Romney wets self anticipating John Bolton Senate testimony.

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) on Monday became the first Republican senator to state that he would like John Bolton, former White House national security advisor, to testify at the Senate impeachment trial if subpoenaed.

“I would like to be able to hear from John Bolton. What the process is to make that happen, I don’t have an answer for you,” Romney told reporters on Capitol Hill when asked whether he would be open to hearing from Bolton.

In a posted statement, Bolton said that if called to do so at a Senate trial, “I am prepared to testify.”

You know Mittens is looking ahead to a 2024 presidential run. Probably as a DEM.

President Donald Trump on Saturday called U.S. Senator Mitt Romney a “pompous ass” after his sharp critique of the president’s push for other nations to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, a Democratic political rival.

“Mitt Romney never knew how to win. He is a pompous ‘ass’ who has been fighting me from the beginning,” Trump wrote of his fellow Republican on Twitter.

Trump once again defended as “appropriate” a July phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, which has triggered a House of Representatives impeachment inquiry, and said his call for China to investigate Biden and his son Hunter was linked to corruption, not politics.

“If Mitt worked this hard on Obama, he could have won. Sadly, he choked!” Trump wrote. “He is so bad for R’s.”
