Hello. Welcome to work. We've CLOSED!

Breitbart: California Workers Arrive at Restaurant to Find It Closed Thanks to Newsom’s $20 Minimum Wage.

Restaurant workers at a Foster’s Freeze location in California arrived at work this week to find they had lost their jobs because it had closed, thanks to a $20 minimum wage signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) that took effect April 1.

How the $20 mandatory minimum wage is working out.

🤣

1. Laying off workers
[.]
2. Cutting hours and hiring less
[.]
3. Dropping staff benefits
[.]
4. Turning to order kiosks

Restaurants are turning to technology and automation to help reduce labor costs.

Sharon Zackfia, a restaurant analyst at William Blair, previously told BI that she expects digital order kiosks — currently a key focus area for some fast-food chains — to spread "even more quickly" in California. Kiosks mean that diners can place orders without having to speak to staff at a counter.

[Michaela] Mendelsohn, the El Pollo Loco franchisee, told CNN that she was introducing order kiosks and was considering bringing in AI-operated drive-thrus.

5. Spending less on operations

Alex Johnson, the Auntie Anne's Pretzels and Cinnabon franchisee, told the AP that he wasn't looking at opening any more locations in California. "I have to consider selling and even closing my business," he said. "The profit margin has become too slim."

Why, who could have possibly ever considered there are other ways to circumvent big nanny state government oppressive and onerous over-regulation?

Remington leaving New York for Georgia.

Newsmax: Nation's Oldest Gun Maker Exits New York After 200 Years.

Remington, the nation's oldest gun manufacturer, which has been located for more than 200 years in Ilion, New York, will move to LaGrange, Georgia, on March 4.

"Two hundred and eight years of history. Gone, gone," Ilion Mayor John P. Stephens told the New York Times. "Ilion is Remington. Remington is Ilion."

"The history and the nostalgic loss that we're going to suffer is almost, if not bigger, than the financial loss," Stevens added, whose father was an employee at Remington for 37 years.

Remington said it no longer feels welcomed in left-leaning New York. In a Facebook post, the company's chief executive, Ken D'Arcy, referred to Georgia as "a state that supports and welcomes the firearms industry."
[.]
Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-NY., whose district includes Ilion, released a statement on the  relocation and aimed her critique directly at the Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul.

"It is because of New York Democrats' unconstitutional gun grab policies that the oldest gun manufacturer in the country has been run out of the state," Stefanik said.
[.]
Remington said it will invest $100 million in the operation in LaGrange, located near Atlanta, and will hire more than 800 people over five years.

Good for Remington. Why stay where you're unwelcome, over-taxed and over-regulated?

Study shows 90% of Government workers could lose their jobs to Robots

Workers in the UK could see their jobs replaced by robots.
Even nurses and doctors could fall victim to the march of the machines, which the report says can outperform humans at some diagnoses and routine surgical procedures...
Nurses and doctors being replaced by robots?  Kinda scary.

But Government Civil Servants being replaced by robots?

What I want to know is if the robots replacing the civil servants will have the same, warm "people-person" demeanor we usually encounter with people whose jobs are paid by the taxpayer.

"Number 37, number 37...?"

"License renewal."

"That'll be (insert hacking, viscous cough) $51.50."
