California first relief fund of its kind: financial support to Undocumented Immigrants.


Starting today, undocumented immigrants in California can begin applying for financial assistance to support them during the coronavirus pandemic — in the first relief fund of its kind.

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the $125 million coronavirus disaster relief fund last month to support undocumented immigrants who were ineligible for federal stimulus checks and unemployment benefits due to their immigration status.

I’m not here to suggest that $125 million is enough. But I am here to suggest it’s a good start, and I’m very proud it’s starting here in the state of California,” [said Newsom].
A paltry $125 Mill? It's just the beginning.

Cali Gov DEM Gavin Newsom seeks Federal emergency assistance from President Trump due to earthquakes.

Stamford Advocate: California's governor is asking Trump for emergency assistance after major earthquakes rattled the state 2 days in a row.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom requested a Presidential Emergency Declaration on Saturday, along with Federal Emergency Management Agency assistance, for communities affected by earthquakes in Southern California.

Newsom requested "mass care supplies, emergency power supplies, generators, evacuation support as necessary, engineering support as necessary, and any other support deemed necessary for the impacted communities." (And a, "bag of chips." - DD)

"I am requesting Direct Federal Assistance, including mass care supplies, emergency power supplies, generators, evacuation support as necessary, engineering support as necessary, and any other support deemed necessary for the impacted communities," [said Newsom].
