RT: ‘Mysterious disease’ prompts checks on flights from North African country.
Russia has introduced stricter health checks for travelers arriving from Egypt, the Russian health watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, announced on Monday. The traditionally popular tourist destination for Russians reported an outbreak of a yet-to-be identified disease over the weekend.
Some 250 cases of the illness were registered in Qena governorate, Upper Egypt, the country’s Ministry of Health and Population said. All patients suffered from mild to moderate symptoms, with none of them requiring hospitalization.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population has reported 67 cases of a mysterious disease causing fever and fatigue in Qena, it said on Sunday.
"In light of the current situation, Rospotrebnadzor has tightened sanitary and quarantine controls with respect to flights from Egypt, including using the Perimeter automated information system," it said in a statement reported by the Russian news agency TASS on Monday.

Symptoms include body aches, fever, and, in some cases, vomiting and nausea, according to Assistant Minister of Health for Preventive Medicine Affairs Amr Qandil.

The Russian watchdog said symptoms of the disease resemble those of dengue fever, adding that it is in contact with the Egyptian side and international organizations to learn more about the disease.
