"Fireworks" possibly led to shooting of Justine Damond.  The Sidney Morning Herald:
...revelations about the possible setting off of fireworks near where she was killed could provide an explanation as to why Officer Noor fired.

A source with knowledge of Minneapolis law enforcement, who asked not to be identified, said it "would be good common sense to investigate" [.] [t]he sound of fireworks may have startled Officer Noor[.]

The process, known as asset forfeiture, is controversial because people can lose their property, such as cars and cash, without ever being convicted or even charged with a crime.
There shouldn't even be a question here; that no property or cash can be taken until a guilty verdict is reached or a law is broken.
