Monday's Friday Morning Music Video

"Locomotion", performed by Little Eva,1962. Set to a montage of clips from the film "Inland Empire" (in which the song is used) and other works of the late, great, David Lynch

Yes, at the very end of the video, that's Lynch. 🤣

Wednesday's Friday Morning Music Video

"Ship of Fools" by World Party, from 1987's Private Revolution.

I like this video, it has so many Lynchian elements in it.

RIP Karl.

Prior to creating (the incredibly under-rated) World Party, Karl performed with The Waterboys, if you recall "Fisherman's Blues". He also collaborated with everyone from David Bowie to Bob Geldof and Peter Gabriel

Meaning behind the Lyrics? Heh, you're on your own. Scroll to the comments at THIS LINK for ideas of what others think the lyrics mean.

I agree, now look at how weird it is that they leave the mention of sodom out of the lyrics [ True. The lyrics page negated that word for some reason. - DD ]  written above. Line 5 after the verse that starts with avarice and greed. It really goes, "but I'm sure you'll fill your sodom like I knew you would."

There's also this interpretation of the lyrics at American Songwriter

David Lynch; RIP.

Filmmaker, painter, artist, musician David Lynch has died; age 78...4 days short of his birthday.

David Lynch: Master of the surreal. An iconoclast. The definition of auteur.

Deadline Hollywood: David Lynch Dies: ‘Twin Peaks’, ‘Blue Velvet’, ‘Elephant Man’ & ‘Eraserhead’ Visionary Was 78

THR: David Lynch, Auteur Drawn to the Dark and the Dreamlike, Dies at 78

From Wiki:

Political and public views

Lynch has said that he is "not a political person" and that he knows little about politics. Describing his political philosophy in 2006, he said, "at that time [the 1990s], I thought of myself as a libertarian. I believed in next to zero government. And I still would lean toward no government and not so many rules, except for traffic lights and things like this. I really believe in traffic regulations." He continued: "I'm a Democrat now. And I've always been a Democrat, really. But I don't like the Democrats a lot, either, because I'm a smoker, and I think a lot of the Democrats have come up with these rules for non-smoking." He has said he voted for Ronald Reagan in the 1984 U.S. presidential election; in the 2000 U.S. presidential election he endorsed the Natural Law Party, which advocated Transcendental Meditation.

Lynch's filmography

There will never be another like him.

"Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole."
- David Lynch

RIP.

Harry Dean Stanton and Frank Vincent; Rest In Peace. (Sometimes 80 and 91 years old are still just too young).

Actor Frank Vincent has died.  Some obits list his age at 78, others mention 80.

Frank Vincent

Vincent appeared in many hit films, including Martin Scorsese's "Casino," Raging Bull," and "Casino."

But perhaps he will be best remembered as ruthless mob boss Phil Leotardo in The Sopranos.

"There's no scraps in my scrap book."

THE NY Daily News:
Scorsese, [remembering Vincent said],  "... he understood the world we were portraying so well that he really didn't appear to be acting at all."

Harry Dean Stanton  has died at age 91.

Harry Dean Stanton 1926-2017

Stanton's film and television credits are many; the guy was always working. He appeared in many films of David Lynch,   playing characters that only he could do.

Lynch, paying tribute to Stanton said: EW:
“The great Harry Dean Stanton has left us. There went a great one. There’s nobody like Harry Dean. Everyone loved him. And with good reason. He was a great actor (actually beyond great) — and a great human being — so great to be around him!!! You are really going to be missed Harry Dean!!! Loads of love to you wherever you are now!!!”
From Showtimes' "Twin Peaks," - Keep The Blood scene:

From Allmusic.com:
[Stanton said]  "... I had to decide if I wanted to be a singer or an actor. I was always singing."
Dean's "Blue Eyes Crying in The Rain":

And, a very nice tribute to Harry Dean at Threedonia.
