On January 19, it will be 25 years since The Sopranos debuted. A lot of people have said over the last quarter century that the series fundamentally changed television.
David Chase pitched The Sopranos to all the networks. They turned it down. He went to HBO who said, "Sure." The best decision HBO ever made.
Yes, it did change television, imho, it's the Citizen Kane of dramatic series. We have the series on DVD. Over the years I've watched it, beginning-to-end, 5(?) times. I've never noticed a continuity error. And it never Jumped the Shark.
