South Carolina Now (SCNow): Joe Biden denied Holy Communion at Florence church.

FLORENCE, S.C. – Former Vice President Joe Biden, a candidate for the Democratic nomination in the 2020 presidential race, was denied Holy Communion on Sunday morning at a Florence church.

Father Robert E. Morey of Saint Anthony Catholic Church confirmed Monday afternoon that he had denied the presidential candidate Holy Communion because of his stance on abortion. Biden, a lifelong Catholic, had attended the church's 9 a.m. Mass.

Communion is one of seven sacraments in the Roman Catholic Church. The others are baptism, reconciliation, confirmation, marriage, anointing of the sick and holy orders.

In communion, parishioners receive the Holy Eucharist, a wafer and wine that when consecrated become the body and blood of Jesus, according to Catholic doctrine. In order to receive it, a Catholic must be in the state of grace, have gone to confession since his or her most recent mortal sin, have a belief in the doctrine of transubstantiation (a belief that the wafer and wine become the body and blood of Jesus), observe the Eucharistic fast and not be under censure.

"Sadly, this past Sunday, I had to refuse Holy Communion to former Vice President Joe Biden," Morey told the Morning News via email. “Holy Communion signifies we are one with God, each other and the Church. Our actions should reflect that. Any public figure who advocates for abortion places himself or herself outside of Church teaching.”

Morey said that as a priest, it is his responsibility to minister to those souls entrusted to his care and that he must do so in even the most difficult situations.

“I will keep Mr. Biden in my prayers," Morey added.

An unconfirmed source said Biden replied, "Hey, man, fact of the matter is this is Vermont, man."

KRTV 3 Great Falls: Mason David Drake charged with the deaths of 2 women in July crash.

MISSOULA — Mason David Drake of Minnesota, who is accused of killing a Kalispell mother and daughter in a car crash on July 4, is now in jail.

Flathead County jail records show Drake was taken into custody on Monday, October 21. Court documents obtained from Flathead County District Court show a warrant for arrest was issued for Drake on October 8.

The crash happened just before noon. on July 4th on Montana Highway 35 near Hooper’s Garden Center, northeast of Kalispell.

The Montana Highway Patrol reported at the time that a northbound Chevy Silverado driven by a 23-year-old man from Lanesboro, Minnesota, crossed over into the southbound lane and hit a Ford Ranger head-on. The two women in the Ford pick-up truck -- Alice Barten and Katie Barten -- died at the scene.

Court documents state that emergency personnel reported an overwhelming odor of an alcoholic beverage emanated from Drake, who was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center. The MHP obtained a blood sample at the hospital which was then sent to the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula for analysis. Testing at the crime lab indicated that Drake’s blood alcohol content was .136, higher than the .08 threshold for driving legally in Montana.

Drake is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide while under the influence.

We have contacted the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to find out why Drake was not taken into custody after the crash and when he’s expected to make his first court appearance, but have not yet received a response.

Considering I haven't updated in a while, it was curious when I noticed an uptick in site traffic a few days ago. Then I ran across some searches on the above story that pointed to this blog because of the similar name. We don't know Mason Drake and as far as we can tell, are not related to his family. The above story is a tragedy. My heart goes out to the Bartens, their family and friends.

Regarding the lack of updates, there are three summer projects that I'm wrapping up and my time and focus is on completing them before the snow hits. That's it. Relatively speaking, all other things are fine. I don't miss not updating. A break in the action is needed.

California's new gun control measures.

California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a sweeping package of new gun legislation into law Friday.

The new laws expand on the state's use of gun violence restraining orders, more tightly regulate firearm parts and restrict sales of semi-automatic weapons.

One bill sponsored by California Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin expands the maximum length of time a protective order can remain in effect from one year to five. This means that a judge under California law can order the confiscation of a resident's firearm for up to five years if "clear and convincing evidence" shows that the weapon will be used to cause injury.

Residents subject to an order may petition the court for its early termination once a year while the order is in effect if they believe the evidence against them is no longer "clear and convincing."

The constitutionality of these orders, commonly known as "red flag" laws, has not been firmly established.

Another bill signed by the governor expands the list of people who may petition for a red flag order. Currently, only police officers and family members may, but soon teachers, employees, employers and coworkers will also be able to seek temporary firearm confiscation.

One of the other prominent reforms that Newsom signed will apply the state's one-handgun-a-month rule to semi-automatic centerfire rifles.

Desperate for power? What about relying on the wonderful, clean, green solar and wind turbine energy?

Californians may find themselves without electricity for extended periods of time, but they can rest well knowing they've solved the problems of plastic straws and little shampoo bottles from hotels. Maybe the rolling power outages are The Revenge of The Plastic Straws and Monster Shampoo Bottles.

Parents sue Epic Games, creator of Fortnite, because it's addictive.

Burlington Free Press: Fortnite as addictive as cocaine? Parents sue makers of popular game.

Epic Games, the maker of the third-person shooter game Fortnite, is being sued by parents who claim the game is as addictive and harmful as cocaine.

The Montreal-based law firm Calex Legal is representing parents of 10- and 15-year-old gamers. The parents allege the Fortnite makers did not warn players of the addictive nature of the game.

According to an article in USA Today, the legal action claims that when engaged in playing the game, the brain's pleasure center releases dopamine which creates addiction. It also claims psychologists and statisticians helped design the game over a four year period to "develop the most addictive game possible."

"Gaming Disorder" became a recognized health condition last year by the World Health Organization. It is "characterized by impaired control over gaming, increasing priority given to gaming over other activities to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other interests and daily activities, and continuation or escalation of gaming despite the occurrence of negative consequences."

Epic games has 30 days to respond to the legal action.

It's easier, and potentially more financially rewarding, to blame a third party because parenting is too hard.

O'Rourke would deny tax-exempt status from religious institutions if they don't believe in same-sex marriage.

“Yes,” O’Rourke responded, to much applause.

Lidingö, a tony area whose residents include ABBA and other celebrities, has become the first in Stockholm to ban begging. Seemingly flying in the face of the Swedish identity, the move, passed by one vote, has divided the city.

With its elite residents including ABBA’s Bjorn Ulvaeus, Lidingö is only the seventh municipality in all of Sweden to ban begging, and the idea still makes many Swedes uncomfortable.

In a country whose very identity is tied up with its robust universal welfare state and which for years had what was considered Europe’s most welcoming attitude to outsiders, the decision came as a bit of shock. Some outraged locals have called it a violation of human rights. Others, however, said it’s necessary to keep the well-heeled residents safe.

“The begging is a big problem and makes many Lidingö people feel insecure,” Daniel Källenfors, chairman of the municipal council, told Dagens Nyheter on Monday, after the measure was passed.

Opponents of the ban say it merely pushes the problem into other municipalities and scoff at the idea that moneyed locals feel threatened by beggars. “I have not so far found any Lidingö residents who say they are insecure,” Patrik Buddgård of the Center Party told DN. His party joined the Liberals to oppose the ban, which squeaked by with a vote of 26 for to 25 against.

“I’m afraid of this development,” Anna Larsdotter Persson, who watched the vote from the audience, told Mitti.se, adding that she “does not buy” the idea that the ban will improve the lives of beggars and believes it is a “populist policy” masquerading as something else.

“I have never been so ashamed of Lidingö as I am now,” Anita Dorazio, a representative for the Stockholm Asylum Committee and refugee advocate, told the outlet.

Nor are beggars the only ones feeling the chill as the famously welcoming Swedish attitude begins to curdle after years of abuse. Faced with the reality that over 418,431 asylum-seekers – and a total of 920,206 immigrants – have made their way to Sweden since the Syrian war kicked the migrant crisis into high gear, Sweden, with a population of less than 10 million, has belatedly realized that being a migration capital of Europe isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Bengtsfors, a municipality in southern Sweden, was forced to beg the government for economic help earlier this year after taking in more migrants than it could afford.

President Donald Trump on Saturday called U.S. Senator Mitt Romney a “pompous ass” after his sharp critique of the president’s push for other nations to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, a Democratic political rival.

“Mitt Romney never knew how to win. He is a pompous ‘ass’ who has been fighting me from the beginning,” Trump wrote of his fellow Republican on Twitter.

Trump once again defended as “appropriate” a July phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, which has triggered a House of Representatives impeachment inquiry, and said his call for China to investigate Biden and his son Hunter was linked to corruption, not politics.

“If Mitt worked this hard on Obama, he could have won. Sadly, he choked!” Trump wrote. “He is so bad for R’s.”

So much for investigative journalism. Because the LaDouche LaRouche PAC Tweets "it was us ", some sites hopped on the bandwagon that the lady at the Cortez townhall who said, "Eat the babies", was prank.

This is all it takes to debunk something? Some Tweet from a Twitter account "claims responsibility" and boom - we have the Truth. What if ISIS had claimed responsibility for the, "We need to eat babies," lady? Would the MSM have reported it as breathlessly and truthfully as they report this alleged fact attributed to the LaDouchers? How do we know the LaDouchers "it was us" is accurate or factual? Because they said so?

Admittedly, "'Eat the babies' lady" is so far-fetched that it should be something instantly recognized as being questionable. With social media being falsely relied upon as a foundation for accuracy in reporting news, the blur between what is actual, and what isn't, is no longer easily distinguished. Because The Left has gone beyond the Lunatic Fringe, there is no longer room in doubting what they say or do.

The Virginia girl who claimed that three white boys held her down and cut her dreadlocks was swallowed by the media hook, line and sinker. When first reported, the media swung into their Oh The Humanity mode. Blatant, inexcusable racism, it was for these white boys to forcefully cut the dreadlocks of a black girl. We can place this despicable act on the shoulders of our Racist President.

Except, the dreadlock-cutting story was false. A complete and total lie.

Today's Stamford Advocate was eager in reporting that the outburst from "Eat the babies" lady was staged by a Pro-Trump group.

The fine folks at LaRouche are a "pro-Trump group." Who knew? They threw their whole-hearted support to DEM Martin O'Malley in 2016. Yeah, a bunch of pro-Tumpers at the LaDouche organization. Uh-huh...

I don't have any issue with the LaDouche crowd, but their political beliefs - to me - falls somewhere between the Dennis Kucinich UFO crowd and those who say they witnessed firsthand Bigfoot and to prove it, they produce a blurry picture of a distant figure lurking around some trees. Nice potato-cam you have there. Time for an upgrade.

You can give Lyndon LaRouche's politics whatever pretend spin you want, but to define them as Republican is no different than stating that Michael Moore is anorexic.

Liberals have been telling us for decades that just because something lacks factual basis doesn't mean it's not true. Applying that same standard to "Eat the babies" lady allows us to interpret her words as nothing other than a sincere and factual statement.

Twitter removed a viral meme posted by President Trump which highlighted Joe Biden’s duplicity on his son’s business dealings in response to a claim by the copyright owner.

The meme showed Biden denying that he had ever spoken to his son Hunter about the latter’s overseas business dealings.

The clip then cuts to a Nickelback video with the lyrics, “Look at this photograph, every time I do it makes me laugh.”

A photograph of Biden, his son Hunter, and a man identified as a “Ukraine gas exec” on a golf course together appears on screen with hearts drawn around their heads.

The meme was removed by Twitter this morning in response to a request from the copyright owner.

Warner Media Group owns the rights to Nickelback’s music and it is likely they who asked Twitter to take it down.

The copyright claim is completely without merit as the meme is clearly transformative and therefore fair use.

This clearly seems like a political move to prevent more people from seeing the meme and uncovering Biden’s duplicity.

Thousand Oaks Police Chief Tim Hagel successful in canceling fundraiser for family of slain officer due to partisan politics.

The Blaze: Thousand Oaks PD Chief Tim Hagel has charity event canceld for fallen officer due to partisan politics. 

A charity flag football game meant to raise money for the family of fallen Ventura County Sheriff's Deputy Sgt. Ron Helus was canceled because a local police chief did not want Republican speakers invited to the event.

Thousands of dollars raised for the Blue Bowl, scheduled to take place last Sunday, is being returned to donors because Thousand Oaks Police Chief Tim Hagel convinced organizers to withdraw support for the event, KTTV-TV reported.

Hagel reportedly complained to Mike Randall, vice president of the Fallen Officers Foundation, which organized the event, that Republicans speaking at the event was a "serious problem."

"He basically said over and over in the conversation this is not Trump country, that slogan 'Make America Great' is not favorable, popular, within 1,200 square miles, that we don't want Republicans here, I could not believe it," Randal told KTTV. "We were totally floored by this comment, 'the only thing,' and I quote, 'the only thing you coulda made [sic] this worse, Mike, was to invite Dick Cheney and Sarah Huckabee Sanders,' and I went...wow are you kidding me?"

However, the speaker schedule was bipartisan and included Trump-supporting Republicans, like actor Scott Baio and singer Joy Villa, as well Democrats, like Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom's public safety liaison, KTTV reported.

Hagel told Randall to remove the Republican speakers or else he would convince local organizations, politicians, and other law enforcement agencies to withdraw support. When Randall refused, Hagel made good on his threat.

Now the charity event has been indefinitely postponed.

"You're shutting down an event because of the way conservatives think, because I support the president? This is disgusting, I'm appalled, and in all my years being an out conservative, I've never seen something so despicable like this."

Randall said, "Ron Helus was a true hero, he saved lives that night, did he run in and go 'Are you Republican or Democrat or independent, I need to know before I help you?' No they don't. ... You've messed with the wrong person, you've messed with the wrong founder, you've messed with the wrong foundation."

Helus, a 29-year-veteran of the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, was killed during a horrific mass murder in November 2018 in Thousand Oaks, California.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, 78, was hospitalized Tuesday night in Las Vegas.

 "During a campaign event yesterday evening, Sen. Sanders experienced some chest discomfort. Following medical evaluation and testing he was found to have a blockage in one artery and two stents were successfully inserted," said Sanders’ senior adviser Jeff Weaver on Wednesday in a statement.

"Sen. Sanders is conversing and in good spirits. He will be resting up over the next few days," Weaver said. "We are canceling his events and appearances until further notice, and we will continue to provide appropriate updates."

It is curious why Sanders sought medical treatment in the U.S., a country with the most deplorable and atrocious health care, instead of being treated in Cuba or Canada. He must have that Platinum Level ACA Health Coverage that only rich people can afford.

Get well Bernie. Your comedic value in the campaign can't be replaced by any of the other candidates.

“I’d like to publicly apologise to everyone, starting with Greta Thunberg, for the post I wrote on Facebook last week. It was an outburst written in a moment of anger against the young Swedish activist with absolutely the wrong language and content I regret,” he said.

A 2014 photo has emerged of Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, golfing with a Ukraine gas company executive in the Hamptons.

The photo, which was obtained by Fox News' Tucker Carlson Tonight shows Biden and Hunter posing alongside Devon Archer, who served on the board of Burisma Holdings with Hunter.

It's believed the photo was taken at the Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton, New York.

In 2014, then-Vice President Biden was at the forefront of American diplomatic efforts to support Ukraine's fragile democratic government as it sought to fend off Russian aggression and root out corruption.

So it raised eyebrows when his son Hunter was hired to sit on the board of a Ukrainian gas company, a windfall moment that was part of a lucrative multi-nation consulting business.
