Cortez NEVER wants to hear the words "Free Stuff" again. EVER!!!!!!!!! Well...FREE STUFF! FREE STUFF!

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's promise to boost federal funding for social programs should not be considered "free stuff," because they are in fact "public goods," the New York Democrat said in a Monday tweet.

Ocasio-Cortez, who earlier in the day led a Green New Deal town hall about public housing in the Bronx, said she's tired of being accused of essentially bribing voters with financial handouts.

"Public education, libraries, & infrastructure policies (which we‘ve had before in America and elsewhere in the world!) are not 'free stuff,'" she tweeted.

"They are PUBLIC GOODS. And they are worth investing in, protecting, & advancing for all society and future generations. Sincerely, NY-14."

Ocasio-Cortez, who has endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., in the 2020 race, also said she never wants to hear the term "free stuff" uttered ever again in a political context.

Maybe we have something here. Peaceful, protesting crowds showing up at any Cortez event drowning out whatever she's saying by shouting, "FREE STUFF". I like the idea because FREE SPEECH is a PUBIC GOOD.

I haven't checked The Bartender's Twitter account, but it sure would be an appropriate exercise of the First Amendment to flood it with FREE STUFF memes.

Forgetting the spork and napkin may be dangerous to your health working the drive-thru window.

SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (WKRC) - A Georgia woman was arrested after police said she shot at a drive-thru window in Shelbyville, Kentucky, in October.

Police were called to the KFC on Oct. 28 after 33-year-old Jonelle Dare reportedly shot at the window. Several employees and customers were inside at the time. Witnesses say it was because she didn't receive a fork and napkin with her order.

An arrest warrant and extradition request were issued for Dare. She was arrested Tuesday and police found a gun matching the description of the one used at the KFC.
It's plastic. It should be banned.

Details on how she obtained the gun are...pending/soon-to-be-released/may never be reported.

Martin O'Malley's Barroom Tirade.

(Click pic=enlarge)

Ken Cuccinelli, the deputy leader at the Department of Homeland Security, has described the Thanksgiving Eve barroom tirade by Martin O’Malley, the former Democrat governor of Maryland.
[.]
[Democrat Martin] O’Malley [was] obviously screaming at me. For a moment I thought he was trying to be funny, as we’ve met before, which I thought was strange. It was immediately clear that he was cursing and screaming for real, to the point of veins bulging on his neck. He also inspired one or two of his (apparent) buddies to join in the cussing assault. Up to that point I basically shook my head at these folks and ignored them.

"Novice" Macron's Gray Matter questioned by Erdogan.

("I am busy pretending to be the leader of a country.")

French President Emmanuel Macron should determine the level of his own “brain death,” before accusing NATO of lacking gray matter, Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan has quipped.

France has no right to criticize Turkey’s military incursion into Syria, or to make presumptions about NATO as a whole, Erdogan said in a speech at the University of Marmara in Istanbul on Friday. The Turkish leader even attacked Macron personally, retooling the French president’s claim that NATO was suffering from “brain death.”

"First of all, have your own brain death checked. These statements are suitable only to people like you who are in a state of brain death," [said Erdogan].
Daily MailErdogan slams 'brain dead' Emmanuel Macron for his criticism of NATO.
'You know how to show off but you cannot even properly pay for NATO. You are a novice,' Erdogan said.

'Believe me, Macron is very inexperienced. He doesn't know what fighting against terror is. That is why yellow vests invaded France,' he added, referring to the French protest movement of the past year.

Thanksgiving

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

Serve the LORD with gladness:
come before his presence with singing.

Know ye that the LORD he is God:
it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,
and into his courts with praise:
be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

For the LORD is good;
his mercy is everlasting;
and his truth endureth to all generations.
– Psalm 100

-
Travel safely. Remember those who - for so many reasons - are unable to be with their loved ones, but especially our deployed Troops. Remember those in need - help them if you are in a position to do so.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Bernie Sanders Dances and Rocks Out at New Hampshire Rally!

Aging, Communist, Presidential Candidate-Head Banger Bernie Sanders proves heart can take it by rocking out at a rally.

Bernie Sanders was the dancing king at a rally in Manchester, NH.

The 78-year-old Democratic presidential candidate’s Saturday night fever kicked in when the 1976 ABBA hit "Dancing Queen" (second video) played at a Labor Solidarity dinner. ABC’s Adam Kelsey caught the Vermont senator’s fancy footwork on camera and sent out a “breaking” report on Twitter.

Ilhan Omar: Qatar Agent?

Candadian [sic] businessman said Omar relayed sensitive information to Iran through Qatar

US Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar is a foreign agent on a Qatari payroll, a Florida court heard in a sworn testimony, according to Monday's report by the English edition of Al Arabiya.

The news agency says it got hold of an October 23 deposition by Alan Bender, a Kuwait-born businessman from Canada, testifying in a case against Qatari emir's brother, and verified it with the attorney for the plaintiffs.

According to Bender, he met with three top Qatari officials, including Emir for Security Affairs' secretary, and was told that Omar is "the crown jewel" among US politicians recruited by Qatar.

The three allegedly claimed that Ilhan owed her current position to the Qatari money bankrolling her campaign.

In his testimony, Al Arabiya reports, the businessman said that Omar made use of her position within the US House of Representatives to recruit other politicians.

She also supposedly shared sensitive information to Qatar, which relayed it to Iran.
No doubt the pious DEMS in the House of Reps, who, clutching at their pearls,  have repeatedly told us how concerned they are over our threatened democracy from foreign influences, will immediately begin an investigation into Omar. Right?

Asteriod 2019 VF1 gonna hit us today! Or...in 2026.

Generic space rock. (Hunter asks, "Can I smoke it?")

An enormous asteroid (space rock) identified as 2019 VF1 is all set to come dangerously close to Earth on November 25 at around 9.40 AM (IST). (That's right about now. - DD). The space rock measures up to 492 feet in diameter and is officially designated as a "near-Earth object". If hits the Earth [sic], asteroid 2019 VF1 can cause a significant amount of damage and mass extinction.

Asteroid 2019 VF1, which was first discovered this year, will be traveling towards Earth at a staggering 38,498mph i.e. about 63 times faster than the top speed of a Boeing 747 jet. Fortunately, this gigantic space rock will pass Earth with a very wide berth. It is expected that the asteroid will no closer than 3,172,582 miles (5,105,776km). It is the distance about 13 times farther from Earth than the Moon.
Or, maybe we have to wait seven years. RTGigantic, 500ft asteroid to fly past Earth on Monday & come BACK in 7 years.
NASA has officially registered it as a “near-Earth object” bound to make a “close approach” to our planet. But not too close, the space agency reassured. The asteroid is set to swoosh by at a distance that is around 13 times farther from Earth than the Moon.

It will return and come close to Earth again on November 2026.
What if NASA hadn't officially registered the asteroid. Would it matter? "Swoosh by". That's one of those highfalutin NASA terms.

VF1 hits today or, maybe, in 2026. "Close but not too close." Precision and timing isn't everything.

Ginsburg goes home. Released from hospital.

Ginsburg; Home Sweet Home
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been released from a Baltimore hospital where she had been treated for a possible infection.

The 86-year-old Ginsburg has returned to her home in Washington, D.C., and is “doing well,” court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg said Sunday.

Ginsburg spent two nights at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She was taken there Friday after experiencing chills and fever.

The court says she received intravenous antibiotics and fluids and that her symptoms abated. (Embalming does have that effect. 😃 - DD)
[.]
Her latest hospital stay began Friday, after the justices met in private to discuss pending cases.

She was initially evaluated at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington before being transferred to Johns Hopkins for further evaluation and treatment of any possible infection.

Ginsburg has been on the court since 1993, appointed by President Bill Clinton. Only Justice Clarence Thomas has served longer among the current members of the court.
I wonder if Ruthie is on the Medicare-For-All plan? Must be some damn fine medical coverage she has.

Transgender bathroom policy: "It's not everything we want."

It never is.

Video footage shows a high school girl choked up when her high school ruled that trans students have unrestricted access to bathrooms and locker rooms.

A high school student identified by the Daily Herald as Julia Burca chokes up as she discusses how her school district ruled Thursday that transgender students will have unrestricted access to bathrooms of their choice, video footage created by the Daily Herald shows.

I feel uncomfortable that my privacy is being invaded,” Burca says, who had a red nose and eyes. “As I am a swimmer, I do change multiple times naked in front of the other students in the locker room. I understand that the board has an obligation to all students but I was hoping they would go about this in a different way that would also accommodate students such as myself.”

Cory Booker says the government is underfunded, needs more revenue. More taxes! Higher taxes! He even wants to take away our Sunny Afternoon!

SEN. CORY BOOKER (D-NJ) at MSNBC's Democratic presidential primary debate: Well, first of all, I think we all agree that we need to bring in a lot more revenue in this country. We actually have a real problem with the tax rates, tax loopholes, tax cheats. And I don't agree with the wealth tax, the way that Elizabeth Warren puts it, but I agree that we need to raise the estate tax. We need to tax capital gains as ordinary income. Real strategies will increase revenue.

But here's the challenge. We as Democrats need to fight for a just taxation system. But as I travel around the country, we Democrats also have to talk about how to grow wealth, as well.
Yeah, it's not a a spending problem. It's a lack of revenue.

"Grow wealth." Cory needs to consult with Crazy Bernie and Liz Warren on that. He's obviously far behind the 8-ball.

The Kinks - "Sunny Afternoon", DEMS want to take that away from us too.

Premature EJoeculation. Debate performance email sent six hours early.

Former Vice President Joe Biden’s staff got a little trigger happy on Wednesday, prematurely sending out a fundraising email asking for feedback on his performance in the night’s debate, asking in the subject line: “Did I make you proud?”

The email went out around 3 p.m., a good six hours before the debate is set to kick off and at least eight hours before it’s expected to end.

I’m leaving the fifth Democratic debate now,” the fundraising plea begins. “I hope I made you proud out there, and I hope I made it clear to the world why our campaign is so important.”
[.]
[An hour later, another email was sent stating] “Oops,” the subject line read. “You might have just gotten an email from Joe about just getting off of the debate stage. That’s our bad.”

“We know Joe is going to make us proud tonight. We were just so excited for it that we accidentally hit send too soon,” [read the email].
"Too soon?"

Someone hit "send" instead of "save". Unintentionally? Nah. It was Russia. Ssshhhh, don't tell anyone.

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, feelz marginalized by tweets and social media.

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman said Tuesday during his testimony in front of the House Intelligence Committee that he feels “marginalized” by attacks in the media and on Twitter.

Vindman testified in an open hearing Tuesday as part of the House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump. At one point during the hearing, Ranking Member Devin Nunes mistakenly referred to Vindman as “Mr. Vindman” rather than “Lt. Col. Vindman,” causing Vindman to correct him.

Republican Utah Rep. Chris Stewart, an Air Force veteran, later questioned Vindman as to why he felt the need to correct a congressman for not addressing him by his proper military rank.

Do you always insist on civilians calling you by your rank?” Stewart asked.

“Representative Stewart, I’m in uniform wearing my military rank. I just thought it was appropriate to stick with that,” Vindman started. “The attacks that I’ve had in the press and Twitter have kind of eliminated the fact that — either marginalized me as a military officer or — ”

Stewart interjected that Nunes did not mean to disrespect him by not addressing him by his rank, and Vindman agreed.
Video via al-Reuters, ...that's "LIEUTENANT COLONEL", not 'Mister':

Washington Examiner: Vindman plays The Soldier Card in wearing uniform.
Army Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman chose to wear his military uniform while testifying before the House impeachment proceedings last month, sources said, prompting speculation about his reasons.

"He had a choice of what to wear, and I think he wore the uniform because it lends credibility to what he is saying as an officer," Alex Plitsas, a former Pentagon official, told the Washington Examiner.

An active-duty Army officer said: "Most of us in the military don't have that option of uniform or civvies. Vindman absolutely had a choice, and he ran with it."
[.]
It’s hard to get much respect like when you’re walking around the White House in a lieutenant colonel uniform,” retired Lt. Gen. Thomas Spoehr told the Washington Examiner. “So that’s why they generally want these guys to wear a coat and tie, because who knows how important this dude is. If you’re running a meeting, it’s hard to get respect as a lieutenant colonel, but if you’re in a coat and tie, nobody knows who the heck you are.”
Speculation why he wore the uniform? Ummmmmm...along the same reasons DEM John Kerry, (who served in Vietnam), reported for duty and why DEM Mikey Dukakis rode in a tank. It makes for good draahma.

Jordan Schachtel @ Twitter:

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman admitted that he had been offered to serve as minister of defense for Ukraine.

Vindman, 44, explained during his impeachment testimony that he had been offered the position three times but declined the position because of his loyalty to the United States. The lieutenant colonel was born in Ukraine, but his family immigrated to the U.S. when he was a toddler.

Vindman claimed he did not know why he was offered the high ranking position of defense minister.

Every single time, I dismissed it. Upon returning, I notified my chain of command and the appropriate counterintelligence folks about the offer,” said Vindman, later adding, “I think it would be a great honor, and frankly, I’m aware of service members that have left service to help nurture the developing democracies in that part of the world.”
So while he turned down the offers of becoming Ukraine's Defense Minister, he wouldn't see a problem accepting the position. Now that's...interesting.

Hunter shoots brother, mistakes him for a wounded deer.

Michigan Live (via Archive): Hunter accidentally shoots brother after mistaking him for wounded deer, police say.
IONIA COUNTY, MI – A hunter was seriously wounded Saturday, Nov. 16, when he was accidentally shot by his brother.

The victim, a 28-year-old Lowell man, was airlifted from the scene in Ionia County. His brother, a 29-year-old Saranac man, told police he accidentally shot his brother with a muzzle-loader rifle thinking he was shooting at a deer that had been wounded.
[.]
Sheriff’s deputies found the brothers, who had been hunting together.

“Investigation on the scene and in follow up interviews determined this was by all accounts an accidental shooting that occurred after the men were looking for a deer that one brother had shot earlier with his muzzle loading rifle,” the Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.

The brothers could not find the deer and were ending the search when they became separated in the dense cornfield. The brother who fired the shot was some distance away when he thought he saw the deer moving. He heard what he thought was the deer moving and fired, hitting his brother.

After firing the shot, he realized he had hit his brother and immediately called 911.

The brothers walked out of the cornfield where first responders provided medical help.
[.]
[The injured brother] is listed in serious but stable condition, sheriff’s deputies aid [sic]. (*they meant 'said' - Drake)
Aiiigghhh! You don't pull the trigger based on what you think you see and hear is a deer.

It could have been so much worse. That the shot brother was able to walk is, at the very least, a good sign. This makes a great story for the brothers, especially the one who got shot. For the next 40+ years, he can play the, "Hey, remember that time you shot me," line.

If I was deer hunting, and had to be shot, I guess I'd rather it be my brother shooting me than some stranger. And I think I'd rather be the one taking the bullet. I'd feel pretty bad about shooting someone, especially my brother. Then again, people I've hunted with wouldn't have fired based on what the one brother thought he saw and heard. Nor would I.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Former New York mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, who has moved toward joining the Democratic presidential race, apologized Sunday for his handling of stop-and-frisk, a controversial policing tactic that has been criticized as a kind of racial profiling and which Bloomberg defended as recently as early this year.

Bloomberg expressed regrets at a predominantly black megachurch he has visited many times, telling congregants that he didn’t understand the full effects on African American and Latino communities quickly enough and should have curtailed the program sooner.

I’m sorry we didn’t,” said Bloomberg. “I can’t change history, however today, I want you to know I realize back then, I was wrong.”

Joey Pacs Biden now accepting PAC Cash.

With campaign cash coming into Joe Biden's coffers more slowly than his 2020 Democratic rivals, the former vice president reversed a long-standing position and will now welcome help from outside, free-spending super PACs.

"In this time of crisis in our politics, it is not surprising that those who are dedicated to defeating Donald Trump are organizing in every way permitted by current law to bring an end to his disastrous presidency. Nothing changes unless we defeat Donald Trump," Biden campaign spokeswoman Kate Bedingfield said in a statement.

Last month, a different Biden campaign spokesperson, T.J. Ducklo, told reporters his campaign is committed to rejecting any super PACs that may join the race.
[.]
Voicing opposition to super PACS has long been a point of pride for Biden, who wrote in his 2017 book Promise Me, Dad that if he ran in the 2016 race, he would have rejected any help from a super PAC.

I knew there was big money out there for me. But I also knew people were sick of it all… rejecting super PAC money wasn't a hardship for me," he wrote.

The flip-flop is a tacit admission by the Biden campaign that it's growing concern that it may not have enough money to compete in Democratic primary. Should outside groups begin fundraising on behalf of Biden's candidacy, the former vice president would be the only candidate in the race to have a super PAC on his behalf.
"In this time of crisis in our politics..." - yeah, that's why Joey Pacs needs the campaign cash. Not because his candidacy is hemorrhaging and imploding. No....

Ruth Ginsburg called in sick for work today. A 4Chan claim is she died Saturday night.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was absent Wednesday from oral arguments at the Supreme Court due to a “stomach bug,” according to a statement from Chief Justice John Roberts.

Ginsburg is “indisposed due to illness,” Roberts said at the start of the day’s hearings.

The health of the 86-year-old liberal justice, known to her fans as “the notorious RBG,” has been a subject of intense public focus in the past year, sparked by a fall that broke three of her ribs last November. After that health scare, she underwent surgery for cancer on her lung in December 2018 and radiation treatment for pancreatic cancer in August 2019.
Then there's this tidbit from an archived 4Chan thread. Hmmmmmmm...

"Ginsburg has died. My brother is a paramedic. He just texted me 10 minutes ago. An ambulance was called to Ginsburg's residence late last night and she was rushed to hospital but doctor's [sic] were unable to resuscitate her. I presume the news will hit the airwaves at some point today."

Anyone run across any Casting Call Auditions for RBG look-a-likes on Craigslist? I haven't checked.

Fired hockey legend Don Cherry on Tucker Carlson.

Celebrated Canadian hockey broadcaster Don Cherry isn’t backing down over remakes he made last weekend about some Canadians not honoring Canadian veterans by wearing a poppy.

Cherry appeared on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Tuesday to address the controversy, telling the host that the “silent majority” is behind him while “I stand by what I said and I still mean it.”

Sportsnet fired Cherry Monday after he made remarks about people who come to Canada and do not bother to remember the sacrifices of military veterans. His remarks were construed by some as an attack on immigrants.
[.]
The former color commentator, who first made his name as a winning coach for the National Hockey League’s Boston Bruins during the team’s halcyon years of the 1970s, wondered if the entire episode could have been avoided if he had said, “Everybody should be wearing a poppy.” He suggested “people are very sensitive … And that got me.”

Carlson disagreed about the issue being sensitivity. “Just to clarify, they’re not sensitive at all, they are fascist. They actually have no real feelings. They are faking their outreach. They’re trying to you because they want to assert power, because it makes them feel bigDid you mean to say something hateful?”

“No, I didn’t,” Cherry responded. “We are all immigrantsThe funny thing is, I never heard a thing that night. I heard it the next day. The silent majority, as you know, is always silent, and the other people, whoever they want it to be, they listen to them … This Saturday will be the first time in 38 years that I’ve never been on Hockey Night in Canada.”
Carlson is right, this isn't about sensitivity, it is fascism. The firing of Cherry is Sportsnet's ridiculous overreach in pacifism to Teh Always Offended Crowd.

NASA renames Ultima Thule due to Nazi connotations.

Arrokoth, formerly known as Ultima Thule.

Ultima Thule, the farthest cosmic body ever visited by a spacecraft, has been officially renamed Arrokoth, or "sky" in the Native American Powhatan and Algonquian languages, following a significant backlash over the old name's Nazi connotations.

The icy rock, which orbits in the dark and frigid Kuiper Belt about a billion miles beyond Pluto, was visited by the NASA spaceship New Horizons in January this year, with the first detailed images showing it consisted of two spheres stuck together in the shape of a snowman.

Its technical designation is 2014 MU69 but the New Horizon team initially nicknamed it Ultima Thule (pronounced Tool-ey) after a mythical northern land in classical and medieval European literature described as beyond the borders of the known world.

That name sparked a backlash, however, because it was co-opted by far-right German occultists in the early 20th century as the fabled ancient northern country of the "Aryan" people (the term they used to describe proto-Indo-Europeans).
